A new passport is processed in the same section as the annual renewal (L). Attached is a form that you must complete and on which you can also read which copies they want. They also asked me for my bankbook and I had to show that there was sufficient balance in the period from my last annual renewal until the day on which I came with the new passport to transfer everything from the old one.

I have a retirement visa, and my passport expires in 3 months. I wonder why I have to wait 4-5 weeks for my new passport at the embassy when my old passport expires, I assume they have a whole pile of blank ones in the cupboard? Does anyone know how this protocol works internally? Is your old passport or copy perhaps being sent back to the municipality in the Netherlands that issued it for verification and is that why it takes so much time?
My passport does not expire (until) September 9, 2025. The passport contains a years-old Non Immigrant (O)-retired visa with annual extensions until January 31 of the following year. Now I'm wondering whether, with the next "last" application for the extension in January 2025, they will extend it again until January 31, 2026 or whether they will extend it no later than the validity date of September 09, 2025 of the current old passport (which is in addition the application is used) issue?

For information: My retirement visa expired on October 31st. I applied for a new passport in September 2023 and received it in October 2023.
