Can my Thai partner use the Belgium/Germany route?
My Thai girlfriend (44) and I (51 years old) are currently in a long-distance relationship. In the long term it is obvious that we will live together in the Netherlands.
Long-stay visa for the Netherlands question: Adult Thai daughter going to the Netherlands to study
I have this question on behalf of a good acquaintance of mine: A Dutch man in his early 80s has been in a relationship with a Thai man for more than 20 years and wants to get married soon in both the Netherlands and Thailand. They also have a daughter, now 19 years old, who lives at their winter address in Thailand.
My Thai wife is hesitant to do the Dutch integration as part of bringing her to the Netherlands for a long-term stay.
Visa question: Validity of visas (multi-entry)
Dear Rob/Editor, This morning my wife got her passport back from VFS Global in Bangkok with her new Schengen visa in it. Unfortunately, again with a validity of 3 months, while in the past she has already received 1 year and 3 years. I had asked for 3 or 5 years in the letter. Are longer visas no longer being issued at all or does anyone have other experiences? Regards, Ronald ****** Dear Ronald, Unfortunately you mention …
Does anyone have experience with applying for a residence permit for the sister of your spouse/nut. We live in the Netherlands, my wife has Dutch nationality (and Thai of course), she has a sister with Dutch nationality in our city and also a niece with Dutch nationality. Their youngest sister (35 years old) still lives in Thailand, no friend in NL or so.
My Thai girlfriend cannot integrate because she is dyslexic. She speaks poor English and a Dutch doctor can therefore not draw up a statement.
Returning to the Netherlands from Thailand?
I am married (in the Netherlands) to a Thai. She has a residence permit and the application for naturalization has been pending since May. We hope to be able to go to Thailand in January. However, I have a question about the return journey.
Visa question: Residence permit and registration at another address
My wife recently moved to the Netherlands. Her MVV has been converted into a residence permit for 5 years. Super happy. Now the problem is that she is not allowed to be registered in my current home, a short stay is allowed.
My partner wants to come to the Netherlands and has now completed his integration, partly because of this the procedure has started to have him come to the Netherlands via the IND. A nice file has now been compiled, which is now at the IND. I have submitted all documents to the IND, according to a checklist, now they are asking for even more information, and it will take longer for both of us.
I am working on the MVV for the four-year-old daughter of my Thai partner (who already has a residence permit here). Does this daughter also need permission from the Thai government to come here, if the MVV has been granted?
Perhaps I will come up with a number of questions that have long been answered on Thailandblog. I only found my very special love in Thailand over a year and a half ago when I wasn't looking for it. She is not after Western money and became the surprising happiness in my life later in life. I like to read, and hopefully also young fellow sufferers, about the experiences of people who have already experienced the integration procedure themselves or from the sidelines.
Who has experience with bringing a Thai family member to the Netherlands? My Thai girlfriend has been in the Netherlands for almost 5 years now. In 2018, her son (now 11) came to live with us. Now we would like her 23 year old sister to come over for good as well.
Reader submission: Experience with TEV/MVV application (part 2)
On Sunday, August 9, Rob V. asked readers to send in their story about their experiences with applying for and the TEV procedure for the Temporary Residence Permit (MVV). Although the procedure is still ongoing, I would like to tell my story. The application procedure is therefore still ongoing. But perhaps readers of Thailandblog can already take advantage of it. Today part 2.

I arranged the MVV for my girlfriend myself, and that worked out without any problems. Now, however, a friend asks to help him arrange the MVV for his girlfriend. That in itself should not be a problem. Only she also wants to take her 2 children of 16 with her. And so I have no experience with that.
Residence permit question: Immigration Thai partner
We are no longer very well informed about all the routes that Thai residents can follow to obtain a permanent residence permit that entitles them to stay in the Netherlands. Of course I still know the "normal" route via the Bangkok exam and then the integration exam in the Netherlands, which she took herself. A good Thai acquaintance of ours asked us if there are any other options for obtaining a permit that entitles us to live permanently in the Netherlands. She mentioned taking an exam in Berlin.
Question: End of residence permit
My girlfriend's 2021-year residence permit will expire in March 5. She has now passed the integration process and has a job of 20 hours a week. What now? Apply for a residence permit again Apply for a Dutch passport, but her Thai nationality will not expire.
Q&As for long-stay visas (mvv)
The global development due to the COVID-19 virus has far-reaching consequences for the services of the Dutch embassies and consulates-general worldwide, including the external service providers, including the visa agencies. This means that until at least April 6, 2020, no applications for passports, visa applications for short and long stays (provisional residence permit, mvv) will be accepted via embassies, consulates-general and visa offices.
Reader question: Civic integration diploma obtained, now what?
My Thai girlfriend got her integration diploma from the DUO last week. Fortunately, this journey has been completed 😉 The only question is; what now? Nothing is in a rush for us. Only in the end we would like her to get a Dutch passport, together with her Thai passport. To get this done, we'll have to get married first. Then she can get both nationalities. This is right, right?
