AD: Passport stress for Dutch people abroad – wave of innovations and too little capacity is causing unrest

Dutch people living abroad face major challenges in renewing their passports due to an unexpected peak in applications in 2024. Frustration is growing due to technical problems and a shortage of appointment options, mainly reported at the embassy in Madrid. This situation highlights the crucial role of passports for residence permits and other official documents, and raises questions about the accessibility of consular services.

In the coming months, the Dutch embassy will offer the opportunity to apply for a Dutch passport or identity card, have your life certificate signed and/or receive a DigiD activation code at seven different locations in Thailand, Cambodia and Laos.
Belgian Embassy in Hua Hin
