While finishing (the ridiculous amount of) documents I came across that a copy of all pages of her passport is needed. Now a Thai passport is very thick (66 pages)! As if a Thai teacher from the countryside can fill that in ten years…
Schengen visa question: Help requested with visa application for Thai girlfriend after difficult period
After a turbulent period of loss and personal setbacks I want to bring my new Thai girlfriend to the Netherlands for three months. Due to previous visa experiences I am unsure about what exactly is needed for an application and what the chances are of approval. I am looking for advice and support to successfully tackle this challenge.
Where can I book a flight ticket for a Schengen visa?
Where can I best book a return ticket for the flight for my Thai girlfriend? Is that possible near the Dutch Embassy in Bangkok? I don't want to pay for the ticket yet, because I don't know if she will get the visa.
Schengen visa question: Applying for a Schengen visa again
In February of this year, I successfully applied for a Schengen visa for my girlfriend, partly thanks to the extensive information in the Schengen file.
Early next year we want to apply for a visa again. Which documents etc. I need for this, is clear to me. Can I add the same certificates to the next visa application? Or do we have to have them printed again?
There was once an article on your site that referred to some photo shops in the immediate vicinity of VFS GLOBAL in Bangkok. These photo shops took passport photos according to Dutch standards and were suitable for a Schengen visa short stay application for the Netherlands.
Schengen visa question: Visa for Belgium rejected, can you go against this decision or is it a lost cause anyway?
I would like some advice regarding the following. My Thai girlfriend and I have been together for 7 years now. We were religiously married together in Thailand, but because my wife has no interest at all in settling in Belgium, we do not immediately see the advantages of being legally married. I am 52 and I would like to retire at 55 and then go live in Thailand.
News item Dutch embassy regarding the Schengen visa: Higher fees and exceeding processing times
On Friday, June 14, the Dutch embassy in Bangkok announced that the fees for a Schengen visa will be increased as of June 11. There was also a message about the processing times for a visa application. The embassy wrote the following on social media.
My Belgian friend has questions about his Thai wife's visa problems, which have been refused twice, including once due to an alleged marriage of convenience. They are registered and recognized in Belgium, and are now pregnant. They want to try via another Schengen country. What is your opinion about this? Do Member States communicate about visa applications? Spain or Italy as an option? Thank you in advance for your insights.
A Dutch friend has a Thai girlfriend. They have had a child together for 3 months. Her Schengen visa has been rejected twice, probably because according to the IND it is not clear enough that she will return.
SCHENGEN VISA FILE (version May 2024)
Read the updated Schengen Visa File (May 2024) that Rob V. wrote here. The most important points and questions are discussed in this Schengen visa file. Good and timely preparation is very important for a successful visa application process.
We have a difficult question regarding a granted visa. We Dutchman and Thai wife are residents of Switzerland. My wife's Thai daughter wants to visit us for 3 months and her visa has been granted by the Swiss Embassy in Bangkok.
Higher Schengen visa fees for Thais from June 2024
From June 11, 2024, the cost of Schengen visas for adults will increase to €90 and for children to €45. This will also apply to Thai citizens who want to travel to Europe. This decision by the European Commission comes amid a rise in visa applications, as well as inflation and higher civil servant salaries. The increase is causing mixed reactions and could deter potential travelers.
I have the feeling that there is conflicting information on the Thailand blog (not so much from Rob V, but also from other readers who share experiences), perhaps you can clarify something for me.
My wife and I invited a niece for a three-month vacation, but her visa application was rejected twice. Despite carefully completed documents and proof of our relationship, the reason the authorities remain concerned is that she will not return. We are now considering a shorter invitation of one month to get her here.
Does anyone have advice for us regarding a short-stay visa application for my Thai girlfriend who wants to come to the Netherlands to stay with me for 90 days? My question is whether we can do this through a reliable person or agency in Bangkok?
Next month I will visit my Thai girlfriend, whom I have known for 2 years, for the second time for 1 month. After that, on my next visit I want to apply for a Schengen visa for Spain where I live (I am Belgian). My intention is to allow her to live permanently in Spain and propose marriage when she obtains her next Schengen visa. What is the best way to achieve that?
Schengen visa question: book airline tickets
My girlfriend has been flying back and forth twice a year for 2007 days in the Netherlands since 90. The exam has been attempted, but is not included. So just keep flying. Now I discovered that, just like for myself, it is better to book a return AMS-BKK-AMS for her than always a return BKK-AMS-BKK, which currently saves more than 300 euros (736 to 1073). In the many previous applications for a (shorter) Schengen visa, we always needed the latter. I didn't notice the difference in price before. But the lady now has a 5-year visa and will only be confronted with an application again in four years.
Schengen visa question: Do I have to complete a new proof of sponsorship/accommodation?
My wife has a Schengen visa for 1 year with multiple entries, called multiple entry. She has already used her 1 day entry once. At passport control you were asked for her legalized invitation form, which you had to have legalized at the municipality.
Schengen visa question: Clarity regarding the possibility of free movement and a visa application in this way
Dear Rob, My name is Bart and I live in Vietnam with my wife, who is from Indonesia. I hope it's OK to ask Rob a question here about a Schengen visa. We plan to visit family in the Netherlands in the summer, but because my wife's residence permit is valid for less than three months after return (it can only be extended in July), we do not meet this condition (evidence ...
I regularly read that a multiple is sometimes issued after just one use. What exactly are the regulations regarding whether or not a Multiple Entry Schengen Visa is issued by a decision officer and is there any tips for achieving this next time?
I have known my partner for a long time and she has been to the Netherlands several times for 2 or 3 weeks of holiday. She always requests a visa for the period she is in the Netherlands.
My name is Martijn, 55 years old and now living and working (with the Thai government) in Thailand for 10 years. I have been happily married for almost as long to a Thai lady who is now 48 years old. We plan to go to the Netherlands for 1 week in August to visit family - my family has never seen my wife in real life, and my mother turns 80 this year, so a good time to visit the Netherlands again after so many years.
