For several days now there has been a technical malfunction on an important website of the Dutch government: NederlandWereldwijd.nl and the associated Consular Services website: https://consular.mfaservices.nl/ As a result, it is not possible for users to access a number of request travel documents. This concerns a Caribbean visa, Schengen visa and Dutch travel documents.
May 5: Liberation Day!

Today is liberation day. On May 5, there are activities and parties everywhere in the Netherlands to celebrate the end of the Second World War. Today, the Dutch flag is allowed to fly from sunrise to sunset.

The Netherlands Worldwide website has been completely updated and has been live for a few days. The site has a layout that is entirely based on the needs of citizens who are abroad, want to go there or come to the Netherlands. The new site has been stripped of all frills and offers information that visitors need to purchase products and services from the Dutch government.

At the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Stichting Goed informs you about the following. You can participate in a survey for Dutch nationals abroad until March 31, 2022. This survey is distributed by various organisations, embassies and consulates in order to reach as many Dutch citizens as possible across the border. Make your opinion heard and count!

In order to further improve services to Dutch nationals abroad, the Dutch (central) government conducted research in June and July of this year into the experiences of citizens abroad with information and communication by the government about the services they purchase.
Stichting GOED: Living in the Netherlands with a partner from outside the EU is becoming more difficult

Update on the previous message from the Good Foundation: A joint letter has now been sent to the Senate, by the Foreign Partner Foundation, the Inburgeraars 2013-2020 group and the GOED Foundation, about the new Civic Integration Act.

The GOED Foundation has been working for a while to see how we can improve the remigration process (Dutch people who return) with the help of the authorities in the Netherlands.
Assessment of consequences of loss of Dutch nationality

Former Dutch nationals who have lost Dutch citizenship and EU citizenship since 1993 may be able to regain it. An online tool helps this group of Dutch people to determine whether they have indeed lost their Dutch citizenship. In that case, they can request a so-called proportionality test.

The Dutch (central) government wants to further improve services to Dutch people abroad. This month (until June 30, 2020), the Kantar Public research agency is conducting a new investigation on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Do you live, work and/or study abroad? Then from 2 June you can visit nederlandwereldwijd.nl for information about voting abroad, AOW, the Registration of Non-Residents, citizen service number and logging in to the government from abroad.
Liberation Day 5 May different than usual

There are activities throughout the country on May 5 to celebrate the end of World War II. This year is different: we celebrate May 5 at home. The National Committee 4 and 5 May gives suggestions for the organization of ceremonies and festivities. For example, the Dutch flag can be raised from sunrise to sunset.
Joining forces for stranded Dutch travelers reporting point: Specialebijstandbuitenland.nl

Dutch travelers abroad who are unable to arrange their own return due to the corona crisis are supported in this by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Association of Insurers, the travel industry organization ANVR and various other partners from the travel industry.
Applying for a DigiD abroad

The question has come up several times about not having the DigiD and how it can be reactivated. Below is the course of action that may lead to a result.
Council of State ruling on loss of Dutch nationality

The country coordinator of the GOED Foundation, Bert Hermanussen, informed us that the Council of State has issued a ruling regarding 6 people who, according to the minister, lost their Dutch citizenship “by law” (automatically) because of the 10-year clock.
The State of the Consular (2019 edition)

Every year, Minister Blok presents the report 'The State of the Consular', which has now been sent to the House of Representatives. The report describes the state of consular services to Dutch nationals abroad and to foreign citizens and business people requiring a visa who wish to travel to the Netherlands.

We all have to deal with it, also in Thailand, contact with officials of the Dutch government such as the Tax Authorities, UWV, municipality, CBR and the embassy. The experience with that is not very positive. The Dutch therefore believe that the services provided to citizens must improve significantly. People want a government that is fair and understanding. They also want a government that responds quickly and helps them on their way with knowledge of the facts.
Extensive nationality research by Stichting GOED

The survey is intended for all (former) Dutch people who live outside the country's borders. Join us and help us to form a picture of what we (Dutch people abroad) think of the current nationality legislation and also of the 'modernization' of nationality legislation included in the coalition agreement.

From Wednesday, May 15, 2019, you can only log in to the UWV via the DigiD app with additional SMS verification. Logging in with only the DigiD username and password is no longer possible after 15 May. This has major consequences for thousands of the more than one million Dutch people abroad.
