I have a retirement visa, and my passport expires in 3 months. I wonder why I have to wait 4-5 weeks for my new passport at the embassy when my old passport expires, I assume they have a whole pile of blank ones in the cupboard? Does anyone know how this protocol works internally? Is your old passport or copy perhaps being sent back to the municipality in the Netherlands that issued it for verification and is that why it takes so much time?
My passport does not expire (until) September 9, 2025. The passport contains a years-old Non Immigrant (O)-retired visa with annual extensions until January 31 of the following year.
