In addition to your response to John: https://www.thailandblog.nl/visumvraag/thailand-visa-vraag-nr-069-24-immigration-bangkok-oud-nieuw-paspoort-en-verlenging/ the following:

A new passport is processed in the same section as the annual renewal (L). Attached is a form that you must complete and on which you can also read which copies they want. They also asked me for my bankbook and I had to show that there was sufficient balance in the period from my last annual renewal until the day on which I came with the new passport to transfer everything from the old one.

I didn't have my bankbook with me, so I had to come back the next day because the bank had to make a copy of that period for immigration.

The correct form is number 21 (transfer stamp to new passport): https://bangkok.immigration.go.th/en/downloads_en/

Thanks.

– In the same section or at the same counter in section L together with your annual renewal?

– Perhaps it will be strange that people also wanted to see your bankbook before transferring data.

But immigration may at any time during the annual extension request the situation of your 800 Baht, i.e. whether the amount of 000 Baht has remained on it for 800 months after it was granted and if money was withdrawn after that 000 month, it is not less than 3 Baht was gone.

These are local decisions and apparently Bangkok has a rule that this must also be checked when transferring data from old to new passport.

It is indeed at the same counter at immigration division 1 at Chaeng Wattana.
You enter the main room at the counter where you will receive a serial number for the various sections.
Section L is for annual renewal and for new passports.
It is best, as Ronnie also said, to do it separately to be sure.
It is quite a hassle to transfer data from your old passport to your new one.
It was free if I don't count the time I spent on it.

      Thanks for explanation.

My intention is to return from NL +/- 21 Sept with a new passport and then 2 days later (by appointment) to extend my extension of stay with my old and new passport. (Expires 4 Oct 2024)

        Don't mention it:
Then you have enough time to go again if they don't want to do it at the same time.
I advise you to prepare for this, as you will need copies of your old passport and various dates in it before transferring.
To clarify, see the link in my post above for those copies.

For the annual extension you will need your new passport and the usual proof of solvency and so on.

If you have a one-year extension based on a visa support letter, it is wise to keep a copy of it.

Yes, you can always do that, but normally their system also states which financial proof was used to obtain the annual extension.

Until last year I received a document in Jomtien at my extension based on that 800 each time to present myself after three months with my bank book. This year in January I did not receive that anymore.

    • RonnyLatYa says up

They can/may ask you for proof at any time during the year. That is something that is not prescribed when one has to check it and that is therefore decided locally.
Such as in Bangkok, among others, who have apparently decided to also check it during a passport change.

It is therefore also possible that after three months people will no longer check it in Jomtien, because they have finally realized that it only means more work and more people. Finally their little Satan falls. But it usually just takes a little longer there… 😉

The most logical thing and what many immigration offices do, is to simply check it at the next annual renewal. Instead of asking for a bank receipt for the last 3 months as before, it is then for the entire past year. They can just as well check what happened to the money and whether it met the requirements during the past year.

      If OK, then no problem.
      If not, no annual extension.
Or how simple something is to solve...
