This Friday came the long-awaited answer as to whether General Prayut's coup was against the law. Of course the court ruled that the coup, any coup, is obviously against the law… oh, no, not at all.

Dutch expats and pensioners in Thailand visit each other and try to maintain their social life abroad. The many Dutch Associations are a good example of this. Research by Statistics Netherlands shows that satisfaction with social life is not only related to how often and with whom someone has contact, but also the way in which. Especially the personal meeting seems to count.

Am planning to settle in Thailand in 2019 as a retired state civil servant from Belgium. What about annual taxes? I currently live in Spain and pay my taxes in Belgium every year as a non-resident. What about when I will live in Thailand, will I have to continue to pay my income to Belgium (pay about 54% in taxes)? By the way, we are in first place when it comes to taxes or will I have to pay my taxes in Thailand from now on?

Are there people here on the blog who have experience with open air tickets? For clarification. I'm going to Thailand for half a year in the fall. If, for example, due to serious reasons (illness or ID), it is necessary to return early, I can leave quickly. What I especially want to know are the pros and cons. Like, are they return tickets? Are they more expensive? Society bound and you can leave quickly etc.etc.

Although I'm not particularly fond of trinkets and certainly not much of knick-knacks offered as souvenirs, I do occasionally go for the axe. Usually it concerns a visit to a distant place where the prosperity is not high and a small contribution can be made to the not too rosy living conditions through a purchase.

I overloaded my back last January and again 2 months later, pain in the lower back and around the hip joints. Because the pain didn't really get any better, I went to Chayaphum yesterday to have a look at the doctor. Life is full of surprises. It turns out that my (young) Thai girlfriend loves an old song by a Dutch artist. When she hears it she is dancing in the room. Who would have thought that?

The Thai government has decided to amend the list of professions prohibited for foreigners. There were 39 professions on the list, but there are now 12 fewer. The decision should solve the shortage of (unskilled) workers. As of July 1, 28 professions are still exclusively reserved for Thai.

During our travels in Thailand, we used the showers in the guesthouses and therefore also became acquainted with the electric heating boilers that are open and exposed in the showers. These boilers provide sufficient hot water. Does anyone know if such electric boilers are also available in Belgium or the Netherlands?

From answers to previous questions - for which I thank you - it is clear that for homes in a project (condos or Moo Baan) service costs are understandably charged for facilities such as: security, swimming pool, fitness, landscaping, handyman, etc. How high are these costs roughly? ? Of course that depends on the services offered, but we would like to get a global impression for those costs for a “project house” with an average luxury level.

Worldwide there are about 65 million people on the run, the majority of which is about 90 percent in the region. Unlike Europe, for example, Thailand does not participate in the UN refugee treaty in which the right to (worldwide) reception is regulated. In practice, this means that people (from the Thai region) who flee to Thailand have no rights there. Thailand sees them as illegal immigrants.

Every Thai is devoted to his TV. Do you see a rickety hut made of corrugated iron on the side of the road where we would not park our bicycle yet, so shabby, there is probably no furniture or a bed in it, but it does have a TV.

Only half of the Dutch go on holiday in a relaxed way. Stress hits young families the hardest: less than half go on holiday in a relaxed way.
