What is the best before date?

In a number of places in Pattaya and the surrounding area, the municipality is busy refurbishing the living environment. Sometimes it is tackled energetically, sometimes it is an endless history like with Siam Country Road.

But if it has been refurbished, then you also have something, you think as a “silly fool”! For those who live longer in Thailand, know better. A beautiful street and street lighting were installed on the beautifully landscaped road Nathon Nongkraborg Road (Soi 9), connecting road between Tungklom Tanman (Soi 89) and Nern Plabwaan (Soi 53). The first piece of it hasn't even worked for 8 months! My report to the office in Nongprue also yielded no result after 5 months. Unfortunately!

Another nicely refurbished point is the Bali Hai pier. Even colored spraying water fountains were installed. Three times a night that was a spectacular sight. What a naval review in that period can bring about! These fountains are now also shrouded in a dark silence.

What about traffic lights. Do they now give a safer traffic image and a better flow. There you have to be careful in various places. At the height of the Ambassadeur Hotel and Mimosa, there are already 2 road deaths due to traffic lights no longer working! It is fair to say that the majority of the crossing Russians are also to blame for this. How often I see them running across the road with a child dragging behind them! But if some idiotic motorists arrive at that point at high speed, a collision is predictable!

It was striking that when the Royal family came to visit the Wat in HuaiYai on Saturday, June 16, the road to it from the Sukhumvit Road was very well repaired! A blessing for the neighborhood that this finally happened.
Unfortunately, the expiration date is often very short-lived with all the consequences of Oien.

Thai and maintenance is a non-existent combination

You see this everywhere in Thailand and not only in government projects.
Just take a look at the house or apartment construction
Many newly built homes you no longer know after a year.
If the roof leaks somewhere, nothing will be done with all the consequences in the long term.
I regularly drive on the new 4 lane road around Sanpatong to Chiangmai , which is still not finished , and you can see in the part that is not even 2 years old , that repairs are already being carried out .

      Then my experience is different.
If something is broken with us, they immediately chase me to fix it 🙂
Well without kidding, see with us in the Moobaan where the houses are between 6 and 8 years old, there is still a handyman regularly to solve small defects. The painting on the outside is generally well maintained as well as most gardens.
The joint reach is also well maintained by the board of the Moo track.

I always stay in the same hotel right on Beach Road in Pattaya. Small hotel from a Thai owner that was newly built 5 years ago, and where no one cent has been looked at. In itself a nice hotel. Now, 5 years later, the paint is peeling off all sides on the outside. It really isn't a face anymore, but nothing is being done about it while it's been going on for a few years. Also, the windows have never been patched from day 1! The beautiful seaview is now seriously hampered by the very dirty windows. There is a small parking lot in front of the hotel, so the windows are easy to clean with a cherry picker, for example. Have said it several times in recent years that they should clean the windows, but it does not happen. It is even mentioned in a number of reviews online as a clear downside, but action is welcome. The inside of the hotel is kept very clean, which is the strange thing.

Dear Hans, that they keep the hotel clean inside has everything to do with the fact that otherwise they can close the business.
If you book this hotel again next time, it is better to bring a long ladder and sponge with chamois leather and a bucket from your country of residence.
Otherwise there is nothing left to do but find another hotel where you do have a sea view.

Good luck with it Jan Beute.
