After years I went back to the coast, encouraged by an old friend whom I might see for the last time. Pattaya and Jomtien still have their charm, but the unprecedented building frenzy and the polluted seawater surprise me. Between culinary surprises, sunscreenless tourists and nostalgic stories, this became a week full of surprises and a touch of melancholy.
