At least 35% of the Dutch people quarrel with their partner or travel companion during the summer holiday preparations.
More than half of the Dutch go on holiday stressed
Only half of the Dutch go on holiday in a relaxed way. Stress hits young families the hardest: less than half go on holiday in a relaxed way. Young couples and the over-65s suffer the least from holiday stress. It is striking that holiday stress also strikes at night: more than half of the women sleep badly the night before departure, compared to only 27% of the men.
Summer vacation is a nice prospect, but the practical preparations often cause a lot of stress. Four out of ten holidaymakers suffer from this. And sometimes things go wrong, such as packing and forgetting things and quarreling children on the way.
Arguing and stress are disastrous for your health
Do you often have arguments with your (Thai) partner, which causes stress? Then it might be better to put an end to it. We knew that stress is bad for your body, but conflictual and stressful relationships are even deadly, according to a Danish study published in 2014 in the Journal of Epidemiology & Community Health.
Majority of Dutch people stressed on vacation
Almost three-quarters of the Dutch people experienced stress before they left for their holiday address. More than half were afraid of forgetting something and a third dreaded the journey to the destination.
