Burma's last king's family is annoyed by Thai soap
The family of the last king of Burma (Myanmar) is annoyed green and yellow by the Thai soap opera Plerng Phra Nang (A Lady's Flame). The soap is based on a bloody power struggle at the court of King Thibaw, the last king of Burma. The soap is broadcast at prime time on Channel 7 from Friday to Sunday.
Although there is absolutely no nudity on Thai TV, the daily soap operas are steeped in violence. Fighting women, a man assaulting a woman and suggestive rape scenes are commonplace, however. The government therefore wants to call a broadcaster to order.

Prayuth: Television soaps promote violence and division
Prime Minister Prayuth believes that Thai soap operas glorify violence. That should be better, he thinks, and if necessary I will write them myself, he told reporters on Friday.
