Hug back! Thank you ambassador Karel Hartogh!
On August 19, Lot made a call on Thailandblog:
“We have just returned from a wonderful trip through Thailand. Now on the last day in Bangkok we forgot our 7 year old daughter's favorite cuddly toy. He was found by an employee of the hotel, between the sheets in the laundry. We hope that maybe through this forum we can find someone who will fly to the Netherlands soon, and would be so sweet to take him with him. It is a small doll, the size of a hand, actually a rag. He is sorely missed!”
Our ambassador Karel Hartogh responded immediately, he had to fly back to the Netherlands soon and offered to return the cuddly toy to 7-year-old Daantje who missed her doll so much.
Today the editors received a thank you from Lot, Daantje's mother:
“Our forgotten cuddly toy in Bangkok is back! Thanks to a quick and super friendly action by our wonderful ambassador, who didn't mind taking this doll with him. Sleeping well here again!
Karel Hartogh, many thanks on behalf of our entire family, but especially on behalf of Daantje, here at Schiphol, just reunited with her dearest boyfriend.”
The ambassador does score bonus points with this. Firstly because he immediately offered his help and secondly because it appears that he is already a loyal reader of Thailandblog. Tribute! A sympathetic gesture from Mr. Hartogh.
That's a nice surprise! I agree with Khun Peter, very sympathetic, kudos to Karel Hartogh! Being able to make someone very happy with such a small act, isn't it fantastic? 🙂
There is nothing more fun than making a child happy and seeing it happy. Great from Mr Hartogh.
Great ambassador, namely one of the old stamp who does not feel elevated but has simply remained himself, Chapeau !!
That indeed restores faith in humanity. That people are willing to do this kind of thing.
And certainly if it concerns an ambassador. And especially if it is “our” ambassador. A big thumbs up to this gentleman indeed
Applause for Ambassador Karel. Not only for this promotion, but also for the customer-friendly treatment. I forgot to fill in my income statement. Booked a ticket Khon Kaen to Bangkok at 8am and at 14pm I was at immigration Khon Kaen for my new year visa. Handed in the form at the embassy and within ten minutes everything was arranged by a sweet, friendly lady. That's called being good to your compatriots. Thanks again!
A compliment and worthy of an ambassador, who fortunately keeps both feet on the ground. We had to wait a long time for this, and hope that he will tackle many more positive things and better protect our interests in Thailand, because we have virtually no rights here. And that in contrast to the Thais who have full rights when buying a house and land, and can open a business in our country. The EU ambassadors need to get together, to also stand up for our rights here in Thailand. That will certainly be entrusted to him with his background, because our new ambassador has studied international law. Wish mr. Good luck to Hartogh, and a pleasant and successful term of office. A good start is already half the work, and he has so far left a very good impression with our SME Thailand in Bangkok. Cheers!
It's the little things that matter. 😉
