I find the visa system in Thailand extremely complicated. Thanks to the people who keep explaining it, but I still find it difficult. Now I have met a very nice, sweet, beautiful Thai lady, and have visited her twice this year (in January on a 60 day tourist visa, because I stayed 33 days, and flew on to Australia). And in March (a month later, back from Australia) as a tourist (less than 30 days). So far so good.

When applying for a re-entry permit it says “My previous visa for Thailand is of the category of” and then you can choose from various options including Non-immigrant and others. I have a non-imm annual visa. O multiple valid until July 6. I can then make a border run just before it expires, then I still get 90 days. That is not enough to apply for a new annual visa (or a tourist visa).
Does that have to be done in the Netherlands? to happen? Is it also possible in Laos Savanakhet? or by computer behind the VPN at the Thai embassy in The Hague?

I arrived via Bangkok on February 14 and spent my first 30 days in Thailand on a visa waiver. A week before the end of this exemption, I applied for a 60-day extension at the immigration authorities on Koh Samui. Unfortunately I only got 30 days. That's a problem, because I won't fly back to the Netherlands until May 14.

The last time I left Thailand I asked the 'boss' of Immigration behind the counters at Suvarnabhumi (at the top of the escalator) about Non-Immigrant for retired up to 90 days. She said that no longer requires proof of insurance and can be extended for another 30 days.
