On the motorcycle to the south…. (key lock)
Tim Poelsma gets back on the bike with his Nokia as a (sometimes unreliable) guide. In part 2 Tim visits the south of Thailand. Yesterday you could read the first part of his story
On the road in Thailand (4): Beautiful places in the Chumphon province
This time I will take you to some more remote places in Chumphon province. More specifically to Phato, this is the southernmost part of Chumphon province and about 200 km south of Pathiu.
Mae Hong Son, the pearl of the North
About 925 kilometers north of Bangkok is the most northwestern place Mae Hong Son. For years an undeveloped area, the vast majority of which consists of mountains and forests.
Monks in BanLai
In Thia's house and especially behind it, it is very busy. About ten women are cooking. Banana leaves are stuffed with rice. Giant pots of meat are on the fire. The men interfere with the decoration of the house. Only now do I understand that monks are already coming tonight.
Aranyaprathet: Gateway to Cambodia
Many tourists and also expats will leave Thailand every now and then for various reasons.
Chiangmai tour
Nothing is more fun than discovering nice places on your own during a holiday, and at your own pace. On this little journey of discovery we make a tour around Chiangmai. We go out with our own transport.
To the south…. (Part 1)

Lex in Pattaya – part 3
Since I am now acting more like a Pattayaan than a tourist, I will spare you the repetitions. Because once I've found my niche, I have no problem eating the same thing every day, walking the same round and visiting the same bars in the evening. But still you come across things every now and then, which makes me wonder why I didn't know about this sooner.
Lex in Pattaya – day 2
A few weeks ago I asked Thailandblog for tips for my trip of (unfortunately) only 9 days to Pattaya. I have received many tips, changed my trip almost completely and was even able to make it considerably cheaper. The editors then asked me to make a report of my journey, which of course seems very nice if I experience things that are worth sharing here. That should definitely work in Pattaya!

How hot it was and how far…Phi Phi Islands
It must be about ten years ago that I last visited the Phi Phi Islands, within sailing distance of the resort of Ao Nang near Krabi. Because my friend Raysiya's son was doing an internship for three months in an extremely luxurious hotel near Krabi, a visit to the islands was obvious.
Sinulog is the festival of the Philippines
Thailand has many 'festivities' such as Songkran, Loy Krathong, the flower festival of Chiangmai and the elephant parade in Surin, not to mention the many Buddha days. For the Philippines, Sinulog is the ultimate party of the year.
Spirited wine and spiritual life
Joseph sees a strange kind of high temple. Anyway, just take a look. At the complex there is a signpost that indicates the direction to the Vihara Phra Sri Ariya Mattrai, the Sala Somdet Phra Srinagarinda Boromarajajonani and the largest of the three: the Bodhgaya. For us Westerners rather uninformative descriptions, but who knows what we will see.
Turntable Bangkok
Thailand and especially the capital Bangkok is a fantastic 'hub' to look across the border and broaden your horizon. From the metropolis of Bangkok you can use a number of low budget airlines to visit a number of neighboring countries. Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Malaysia are what you call next door.
By boat from Thaton to Chiang Rai
If you want to travel to Chiang Rai in a completely different way, a trip by longtail boat from Thaton to Chiang Rai is a very special and spectacular experience.
Via Bangkok to Vietnam
Yuundai may make the reader frown. Still, he asks that you read on slowly, so that you understand what he felt. After the cremation of his dog, he first traveled to Bangkok and then backpacked unprepared through Asia for three months.
Thailand: between heaven and earth
On the map, Thailand is reminiscent of the head of an elephant. In the north, the country is bordered by Laos and Burma, with a narrow strip of the latter extending further west.
