Severe flooding in Thailand’s Chumphon province is causing chaos on roads and rail lines. Major highways have been closed and train services have been suspended. Travelers are being advised to take alternative routes and prioritize their safety. The State Railway is offering full refunds for canceled trips while authorities work to resolve the dire situation.
Chumphon: Rest and good food!
Chumphon is a somewhat sleepy, small province in southern Thailand. Tourism has missed the grand development of holiday areas. The province is sandwiched between Prachuap Khiri Khan province in the north, with Hua Hin and Cha-am as major attractions, and Surat Thani province in the south.
Chumphon, the undiscovered gem of southern Thailand, offers an authentic experience far from mass tourism. With its pristine beaches, crystal clear waters and lush nature, it is a paradise for travelers seeking tranquility and adventure. From snorkeling around deserted islands to exploring traditional villages, Chumphon welcomes you with a mix of serene beauty and local charm.
Thailand's railways are taking a giant leap forward with the opening of a 421-kilometre double-track line from Nakhon Pathom to Chumphon. This new line will significantly reduce travel times and improve safety by allowing trains to pass more smoothly. Chumphon: Unknown certainly does not make unloved
Chumphon City is the capital of Chumphon Province. It is the gateway to the southern provinces of Thailand and the islands of the Gulf of Thailand, especially Koh Tao. The cycling race, Tour of Thailand, although it takes place almost entirely in the South, is officially called “Princes Maha Chakri Sirindon's Cup Tour of Thailand.
Chiang Mai and Chumphon: What brought us to Chiang Mai for the third time? (key lock)
First and foremost for Annelore, she was our tour guide when we traveled to Thailand for the first time. Many readers may know her from the human interest program 'Boundless Love' in which the VRT reporter Annick Ruyts traveled the world for four years in search of Flemish-mixed couples who had followed their loved one abroad. It was she who infected us with the love for this country. Full of enthusiasm she could talk about Thailand.
Recently I read an article on TB, which was already a few years old, about the beaches at Khanom. Last year we cycled from Phetchaburi to Chumphon and found the route beautiful. What struck us, however, was that the beaches south of Hua Hin were so empty. While there were quite a few tourists walking around in the villages. We soon found out that there are a lot of sand fleas.
A nice border run (final)
As mentioned in part 1, we want to turn this border run into something more than a 'run'. The main goal was already reached in the very early afternoon, so we will now do some sightseeing in Ranong and the surrounding area.
A nice border run (1)
Last week one of my friends was forced to do a border run. Although he used to stay here on an annual extension, it was now temporarily impossible for him to meet the financial requirements as an unmarried pensioner. So, with a Non O Multiple Entries, obtained at the Thai Embassy in The Hague, every 90 days, you are required to leave the country to obtain a new 90-day residence period.

In the context of the 'Riviera Project', which aims to expand Thai tourism more to the South, quite a few new initiatives are being taken here in my region, Chumphon – Pathiu. Along the coast, Hat Bo Mao, Hat Bangson ... new resorts are being built in abundance, although several resorts already exist and in fact have a very low occupancy rate.

Just before the start of the rainy season, Lung Addie still wanted to make a new exploration trip in his own region by motorcycle. Not, as the title suggests, looking for the sources of the Nile, because it does not flow through Thailand but to the sources of the Klong Hua Wang.
