I will soon first go to Bali, then to Thailand on a visa exempt basis for 30 days, then to Cambodia for 30 days and then to Thailand for 2 to 3 months. For the 2nd time in Thailand (end of January) I need a visa, tourist visa 60 days with a possible extension of max. 30 days or a non-immigrant O visa.

Back in the Netherlands I can give you an update on a border run from Surin to Cambodia. The shortest route is now via Chong Chom, which border crossing opened again in the middle of last year. The distance from Surin is approximately 65 km. The costs: if you only want to stay in Cambodia for a few hours, the costs for a visa are 2800 Thai baht. If you stay in Cambodia for at least 24 hours (so you spend money in Cambodia for at least one overnight stay), the costs for a visa are 2000 Thai baht.

My 45-day tourist visa expires on January 22, I wanted to extend it with 45 days (immigration office Nakhon Rat), but this turned out not to be possible only with 30 days. My return flight is on March 8.

The weather is still fantastic for the time of year, but I think, to avoid the approaching winter period, already at the beginning of next year. My mind also wanders to my very last trip to Thailand and Cambodia, barely a month and a half ago. Strange that small, often unimportant things often linger in your mind for a long time.

If you want to make a border run from Pattaya to Cambodia to obtain a new Visa Exemption period, you must first contact a Visa office. Preferable than the one they recommend in the article which happens to be located next to immigration.
