Reader question: Child-friendly resort on Koh Samui
We are going to make a tour of Thailand and Cambodia in August 2018. Now we want to spend the last week relaxing on the island of Koh Samui. Who can recommend a fun and child-friendly resort or B&B on Koh Samui? We are traveling with an 8 year old child. We would prefer a house / bungalow on or on the beach.
Reader question: NL tax authorities continue to be difficult
I have been talking to NL Tax and Customs Administration for some time now, and as I have read so many times in this blog, they continue to be difficult.
Despite the fact that I have been away from NL for 10 years, and have been staying in Thailand for more than 180 days (proven with passport stamps) and have submitted a neatly translated statement from the local revenue office, which indicates that I am listed in the tax register, they simply say flatly “you have not demonstrated that you are a foreign tax resident”.
Reader question: Experience with Respo trailers in Hua Hin?
Would like to know if there are people who have experience with RESPO TRAILERS in Hua Hin. I bought and paid for a trailer there, but now receive an extremely suspicious e-mail, the delivery this week has been postponed until the end of next month.
I was in Bangkok in November and was curious about the IconSiam complex on the Chao Phraya, but saw a half-finished complex and no construction activity. Does anyone have any news about this (complex would be completed in 2017 costing about a billion euros).
Reader question: Visa for Thai baby with Belgian nationality
Who can give me information about the following please? My Thai daughter-in-law went to her family in Thailand for 8 months with baby, baby did not yet have Thai nationality, only Belgian and passport for 30 days. How can she arrange for an extension of re-entry in Thailand or what do you call this or for a long stay visa. Baby is now 3 months old.
We are a couple in our early 50's and want to spend the winter in Southeast Asia. Initially, our preference was for Thailand, but we dread the hassle of a visa. Now we are thinking about one of the neighboring countries. Is it easier to get a 4 month visa in Vietnam, Cambodia or Myanmar?
Reader question: From Thailand 4 days to Singapore, visa necessary?
We are going to Thailand in January 2018 for 30 days and therefore do not apply for a visa. In between we will go to Singapore for 4 days. Do we need to apply for a visa in this case?
Coincidentally, I am now in Pattaya on New Year's Eve. I wondered how the Dutch celebrate New Year's Eve in Pattaya? Do they mainly stay at home or do they come together to toast during the turn of the year, eat an oliebol and set off fireworks? Where should I go for a pleasant evening with compatriots? Does anyone have a tip?
Reader question: What about crime in Thailand?
My wife and I are considering living in Thailand (somewhere close to the sea) for six months and in the Netherlands for six months. A question that still lives with us is: what about crime in Thailand? If we leave our house unattended in Thailand for six months, won't it be broken into?
Reader question: Building Marklin railway in Thailand
I want to try to build a Marklin railway, are there addresses where I can buy everything? And is the price reasonable compared to the Netherlands?
Reader's submission: Which professions can Thai ladies practice in Belgium/the Netherlands?
Imagine, you get to know a nice Thai lady in Thailand, you like to build a future together, you get married and she moves to the Netherlands or Belgium after all the administrative hassle of the marriage and migration is over.
I am currently on holiday in Thailand and would like to visit a detainee in Bangkwang Prison in Bangkok. Is there anyone who can tell me or otherwise guide me in how I can find out which Belgians / Dutch people are currently detained in Thailand, in which prison and in which building?
Go to Thailand again soon. Always rent a moped. I've had a fine a few times because I don't have an international driver's license (but I do have a national one). My question: if I have an international driver's license, can I still get a fine, because this is for a moped and not for a motorcycle (mopeds can drive 110 km in Thailand in contrast to the Netherlands and are therefore a kind of motorcycle). I don't have a motorcycle license.
Reader question: How long will it take before I receive an answer from the tax authorities
Does anyone have experience with how long it takes for the Dutch tax authorities to receive an answer to a question to the Thai authorities about a second home in Thailand? And then specifically about the property and the value.
Do Thai restaurants use ve-tsin (mng, msg or monosodium glutamate) in their dishes and if so, how do you indicate that you do not want this? My wife tolerates this very badly.
A lot has already been said on this blog about obtaining visas and yet, after hours of searching, I do not think that an answer can be found for my specific case. That is why I would like to explain what my situation is and what my aim is. I will try to give as much detail as possible to avoid misunderstandings.
I live in Chaiyaphum, but on New Year's Eve I will be in Hua Hin. I would like to celebrate New Year's Eve with my family in a bar where many Dutch people come. Do you have any suggestions?
