The Dutch pension system is the best in the world, according to the annual Global Pension Index of consultancy Mercer. Last year Denmark took off with this title, but the Netherlands has been number one again for seven years.

Moving from Belgium to the Netherlands with my Thai wife
I have a Dutch passport and have been living in Belgium since 2004. In 2013, in Belgium, I entered into a cohabitation agreement with a Thai woman with Thai nationality. In 2017 we entered into a legal marriage in Belgium. My wife has been in Belgium for over 5 years, her current ID expires in November and we have now applied for the F+ card which we expect to receive in October. During her integration in Belgium, she met the conditions and is in possession of certificates 1.1 and 1.2. Now we have decided together to return to the Netherlands from the beginning of next year.

Fortunately, Charly's life is full of pleasant surprises (unfortunately sometimes also less pleasant ones). Until a few years ago he never dared to predict that he would spend the rest of my life in Thailand. However, he has now been living in Thailand for a while and in recent years close to Udonthani. Today part 6 of his series of stories.
Even more passengers at Dutch airports
In the first quarter of 2018, almost 16,8 million passengers traveled by air to and from the Netherlands. Compared to the same quarter in 2017, the number of passengers at the airports increased by 8,2 percent. This growth is mainly due to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Eindhoven Airport. This is reported by Statistics Netherlands in the Aviation Quarterly Monitor.
I have been deregistered from the Netherlands for a few years now, but I still have an apartment there. I spend at least three months there every year and use my (old) car. However, it recently crashed through no fault of my own. Now I am not allowed to buy a new car because I am not registered in the Netherlands. Do other readers have experience with this?
My Thai girlfriend will soon be coming to the Netherlands for the first time. Now I wonder what is fun to show about our little country? Of course I understand that this is personal and tastes can differ, but there is probably a common denominator of fun trips that most Thai people like.
My question to the Thailand blog readers is whether living half in Thailand and half living in the Netherlands is doable? If you are in that circumstance, can you share your experience with me?
Returning to Thailand was not so easy
The journey with daughter Lizzy (almost 8) to the homeland went almost without problems. Only Goldcar, the car rental company, had provided a Dutch telephone number. Try to achieve that at Schiphol with a Thai SIM card. However, the lady from Hertz let me use the landline without any problems.
The best country to live in
Some articles on this blog make you think. If I have to believe it all, many who have chosen Thailand as their permanent residence have won the grand prize of the lottery. Wonderful climate, no hassle, mild tax climate, low prices, culture and last but not least a young sweet Asian woman by your side.
Yesterday in the news “ABN Amro has rightly dismissed Dutch people who do not live in the European Union. The bank does not have a license for this.” Question, which banks do have a license for customers in Thailand? Which bank do the readers use?
Reader question: SIM card in the Netherlands
I'm going on holiday to the Netherlands in May for 3 weeks. Now of course I also want to be reachable via my Thai phone and not just when there is WiFi nearby. On the internet you can find many providers with all offers. You can also buy SIM cards for Europe in Thailand, but they are only valid for 15 days.
