Holiday from Thailand to Europe and currency when booking
We are planning a holiday to Europe, leaving from Bangkok. When you want to book a flight ticket online, the prices are always shown in THB. Probably because the starting point is Thailand.
The first visit of a Siamese delegation to Europe
Lung Jan has already given some nice descriptions of European travelers to Southeast Asia. But what about the Siamese traveling to Europe? The first time that Siamese ambassadors came to Europe was for a visit to the Republic of the Seven United Netherlands in 1608.
Thailand question: Can European charging stations for (PH)EV vehicles be used in Thailand?
Currently there is a Wallbox on my front of the house in the Netherlands for charging my PHEV; it can handle 11 kW (but not the car). In addition, I have 2 charging cables for a normal 220V (Schuko) connection approx. 3.5 kW with the same purpose.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has indicated that they expect more than 2023 million European tourists to visit Thailand by 6, representing a total revenue of 420 billion baht for the country. This amounts to about 80% of pre-pandemic sales and is part of the total sales of 1,5 trillion baht by the end of the year.
The Dutch want to go to European destinations this summer
More than 80 percent of the Dutch want to go on holiday this year, an increase compared to the 70 percent in the same period last year.
Thailand is trying to buy up unnecessary vaccines in Europe
The Thai government is in talks with European countries to buy millions of doses of Covid-19 vaccines. In this way, Thailand wants to speed up the vaccination campaign to contain the third wave of infections.
An annoying message for us. Thailand has been removed from the list of safe countries compiled by the EU. The list is used by the member states, including the Netherlands and Belgium, to determine which residents of countries outside the EU may enter without conditions. Residents of countries that are on the list are also allowed to make so-called non-essential trips to the EU, such as a holiday.
EU citizens should be able to travel largely freely again this summer. To this end, the EU is coming up with a pass that states what their 'corona status' is. This concerns vaccination, being tested negative or having antibodies against the corona virus. This pass should give EU citizens access to all EU countries. The European Commission is presenting a plan for this today.
Schengen visa question: Every three months to Belgium and then stay there for a month
My daughter will give birth next year and as a brand new grandfather I want to be there as much as possible. Now my plan is to travel to Belgium after every three months and stay there for a month. In total we would stay in Europe for 90 days. Now a good acquaintance of mine says that this is not possible at all because my Thai girlfriend has to stay in Thailand for at least 180 days after returning from NL/Belgium.
The consequences of Brexit for Thailand
While British Prime Minister Theresa May wriggles through all sorts of bends to get the Brexit deal over the line in a way that is acceptable to everyone, we read all too often about the economic consequences, say loss of prosperity, for the United Kingdom itself and the European countries.
Two-thirds of all summer holidays are booked online
In the summer period of 2017, three out of four Dutch people (12,7 million) went on holiday one or more times. Almost nine out of ten holidays were spent in Europe, with Germany being the favorite destination. A large majority of summer holidays were booked online.
A Thai lady in Europe
Gringo has visited the Netherlands twice with his Thai wife. The first time obviously produces a culture shock, because how different the Netherlands is compared to Thailand. The beautiful road network, the neat traffic, the green grass, the beautiful houses yield many ah's and oh's.
Those who live in Thailand also want to see something different during their holiday, but the disadvantage of a trip to Europe, for example, is the unstable weather. If you want more certainty about the weather conditions, Greece is the best option. The country is on average the warmest in the summer months and also the second driest country in Europe. This is evident from data from the American weather institute NOAA, which RTL News has analyzed and put on the map.
THAI International Airways also wants to compete on price in Europe
THAI Airways International (THAI) has sold fewer airline tickets in Europe but is sticking to its sales target by also competing on price. Due to the scrapping of the fuel surcharge, tickets at THAI are now 15 to 20 percent cheaper.
Great year for European airports
In general, the airports in Europe can look back on a good year and achieved an average growth of 5,2 percent. That equates to 1,95 billion travelers in 2015.
Belgians are the richest Europeans
Belgian households have an average net worth of 451.000 euros. This makes them the richest Europeans. The Dutch are in second place, according to a survey by ING.
Visa for Thai Q&A: Can someone with Thai nationality move from Italy to the Netherlands?
My girlfriend's sister has Thai nationality, has lived and worked in Italy for several years (she has an Italian permanent residence and work permit), is now married in Thailand (not in Italy) to her Italian husband and has 2 children who have Italian nationality.
Reader question: How can I travel through Europe with my Thai girlfriend for a month?
I am registered in Pattaya with Tambien Baan and completely away from the Netherlands. I want to travel through Europe with my Thai girlfriend for a month as a holiday trip.
Reader question: Are the European elections popular among expats and pensioners living in Thailand?
Elections for the European Parliament will be held next week. The results of those elections may be important for Dutch emigrants, expats and pensioners, in Thailand, for example.
Flying comfortably with EVA Air directly from Bangkok to Amsterdam (or Antwerp with the free shuttle bus) can now be extra affordable.
Europe wants more flexible rules for Schengen visa
Good news for Dutch and Belgians who regularly travel to Europe with their Thai partner. The European Commission strives for a more flexible policy for applying for a Schengen visa.
John sent us a message about what happened to him when he traveled back to the Netherlands with his Thai girlfriend's son.
