Registration closed on Wednesday. The candidates, including a Dutch company (name?), are companies in the energy sector, petrochemicals and construction companies. There will be a viewing on location on November 28. The companies must make their bid in December, the winner will be announced in February.

The third phase involves the development of 1.000 rai. Over the past ten years, the throughput of goods has increased by 5,3 percent annually.

It concerns a Public Private Partnership in the context of the development of the so-called Eastern Economic Corridor for the construction of sites (partly in the sea), the construction and the 30-year operation of an LNG terminal.

The Dutch bidders for the international tender are Boskalis international and VOPAK LNG. A combination of a party with experience in infrastructure port development and land reclamation at sea with a party that is well placed for the construction and operation of an LNG superstructure. The competition is no less.

As can be seen on the artist impression pictures, the new port development connects behind the existing (Chinese) coal-fired power station. No doubt not a coincidence since energy supply is crucial for the development of the EEC.

The shellfish hanging cultures that are currently there will disappear at that location. In the past, they were “gifted” at the expense of the port developers to fishermen who saw their acreage for livelihood lost due to the port development at the time.
Will there be a new alternative for the fishermen? I can't find any information about that.

The tender (call for candidates) is online.

In 2008, Van Oord deepened the port. I myself worked there for a year. It is possible that Van Oord will again be one of the parties to work there.
