Ik heb gisteren mijn METV voor 180 dagen binnengekregen. Nu heb ik nog een vraag; bij Traveldocs waren ze niet zo duidelijk,
Mijn visum staat op Valid From 2 september, Valid Until 28 februari
Ik vlieg 1 oktober, dus 2 oktober in Bangkok. Ik ga van 26 november tot 12 december naar Hanoi, Vietnam. Dan van 12 december tot 7 februari in Thailand. Ik ga van 7 februari tot 21 februari naar Bali. Kom 21 februari weer terug naar Thailand.
Nu is mijn vraag: krijg ik dan bij binnenkomst weer 60 dagen, want ik vlieg 20 april weer terug naar Nederland. Ik verblijf in totaal 176 dagen in Thailand?

Dat is geen probleem.
De geldigheidsperiode van een Thais visum zegt enkel tot wanneer je met dat visum Thailand kan binnenkomen. Niet tot wanneer je ermee in Thailand mag verblijven.
In uw geval is uw METV “Valid Until 28 februari”
Kom je dus op 21 februari Thailand binnen, dan zal je nog steeds 60 dagen verblijf bekomen. In principe zou je die zelfs nog kunnen verlengen met 30 dagen bij immigratie.

Misschien de lezers er ook nog eens attent op maken wat het verschil is tussen de geldigheidsperiode van een visum en een verblijfsperiode in Thailand.
– Geldigheidsperiode (Visa validity) van een visum is de tijd die je hebt om Thailand binnen te komen met dat visum. Hangt van het soort visum af en wordt toegekend door de ambassade. Het aantal entries zal dan bepalen hoe dikwijls dat kan in die periode (Single of Multiple)
– Verblijfsperiode (permitted period of stay) is de periode dat je in Thailand mag verblijven. Wordt toegekend door de Immigratie Officier en zal natuurlijk ook afhangen van welk visum (vrijstelling) je hebt.

Visa validity (geldigheidsperiode), as indicated on the e-visa (“Valid until …”), is the period during which a visa can be used to enter Thailand. It does not indicate the length of time the holder of the visa may stay in Thailand. In general, the validity of a visa is 3 months, but in some cases, visas may be issued to be valid for 6 months, 1 year, 3 years or 5 years from the date of issuance/grant. The validity of a visa is granted with discretion by the Royal Thai Embassy or Royal Thai Honorary Consulate-General and is displayed on the visa sticker.
On the other hand, the permitted period of stay (verblijfsperiode) in Thailand which is the maximum length of stay per entry. For example, the maximum length of stay for a transit visa is not exceeding 30 days, for a tourist visa is not exceeding 60 days (30 dagen vanaf 15 sept) and for a non-immigrant visa is not exceeding 90 days from the arrival date.
However, the actual period that visa holders are permitted to stay in Thailand is decided by an immigration officer upon arrival at the port of entry in accordance with the type of visa and relevant laws. The period of stay granted by the immigration officer is displayed on the arrival stamp.
