A memorial service will be held in Kanchanaburi on Monday 15 August. On this day we commemorate the victims who died during the construction of the Burma-Siam railway during World War II, including many Dutch people.

“Shrek The Musical” is coming to Bangkok
There is good news for those in Thailand who love musicals. After successful shows on Broadway, Loden West End, in Dutch and Belgian theatres, Shrek the musical is coming to Bangkok. as part of a world tour. From 1 to 5 July, eight performances will be given at the Muangthai Rachadalai Theater (on the 4th floor of The Esplanade, Ratchadphisek Road).

In Isan (Northeast Thailand) and in Laos, the beginning of the rainy season is celebrated in many villages with the traditional Rocket festival or the 'Bun Bang Fai'. In Thailand, the 'Bun Bang Fai Rocket Festival' in Yasothon is the most famous festival.
You can celebrate King's Day in Pattaya with other Dutch people on Wednesday, April 27 at the Fifth Jomtien Hotel in Soi 5 of Jomtien Beach Road, right next to the Immigration Office. The exact starting time will follow, but count on around 17.00 p.m.

Also this year the NVT Bangkok wants to make a day trip to Maha Chai with a group. The slow train journey there is already an experience. We arrive in the middle of a fresh market. After a short walk through that part of the city, we arrive at a restaurant on a ferry where the most delicious fish dishes can be ordered.
Thai festivals in April and May 2016
If a ranking of national and regional festivals is made, I think Thailand is in the leading group. Throughout the year there are all kinds of festivals to visit in the country. It can be an initiation ceremony, an elephant procession, a water fight, but the goal is often to please Buddha, which is often accompanied by a lot of festivities.
On April 27, the Netherlands will celebrate the birthday of His Majesty King Willem-Alexander. The embassy in Bangkok will not let this day pass unnoticed. That is why the embassy is organizing a big party on Saturday 30 April for all Dutch people in Thailand and for Thai friends of the embassy!

During a press conference on March 2 at the residence of the Dutch Embassy in Bangkok, a new tour of the Biggles Big Band Jazz Orchestra was announced. This big band has already made four tours through Thailand, the last of which was last year.

Tidarat Srijumpol, better known as Ying Lee, is a Thai Luktong singer who scored a huge hit with the song Kau Jai Tur Lak Bur Toh aka 'Your Heart For My Number'. And every Thailand-goer knows that the party really gets going when this song is played. Everyone knows it in Thailand, and everyone sings along. The clip had been viewed more than 2014 million times on YouTube in 100.
