For a border crossing with a foreign means of transport, both Thailand and Malaysia want to levy tolls. Halfway through the year, a toll of 200 Baht is levied at the border to Malaysia for buses, vans and cars coming from Thailand.

Reader question: Tax return and M 15 form 2016?

On December 30, 2015 I came to live in Thailand. I therefore received an M15 form from the tax authorities. I sent this after a delay in September 2016. The following November I received the provisional assessment. I understand that the tax authorities are trying to send the final assessment within a year. But…..it can also take longer.

My question is about temporarily insuring a rental motorcycle in Thailand. Last year I rented a motorbike in Chiang Mai and insured it through SIAM SOLUTION. In November 1883, King Chulalongkorn, Rama V, traveled to Lopburi in his royal boat. In Wat Mani Cholakhan he handed out monk's habits, the annual kathin ceremony. When he wanted to pay homage to the Buddha by lighting candles, he saw to his surprise and chagrin that the only statue there represented the Metteyya. He asked that that image be removed and replaced with an image of the Buddha so that he could prostrate himself before the Buddha.
