We have now applied for a Schengen visa twice for my Thai sister-in-law and her three-year-old son. My wife has been living in the Netherlands for 16 years and she would like to invite her sister and nephew for a holiday. No success. The reason is that the Dutch embassy doubts that she will return to Thailand.
The reports of long waiting times for an appointment with the external service provider VFS Global, which has been appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to collect and check Schengen visa application forms, have also reached other websites. Schengenvisum.info writes that waiting times for an appointment can be as long as 3 to 5 months. Complaints come mainly from Suriname, Thailand and Senegal (Gambia), but this may also be the case elsewhere in the world.
I would like to say something about VFS Global regarding a visa application. My sister-in-law with her 12-year-old child intends to come to the Netherlands for 1 month. We thought it would be a good idea to send her to VFS Global to help her with the requested forms. They cannot manage this on their own and need help.
Apply for a Schengen visa and create an account
My Thai partner wants to apply for a Schengen visa to travel with me to the Netherlands this year to visit my family, our friends and former colleagues. To this end, she must create an account before she can make the application. And there she runs into a problem. After she has entered her email address, she receives the message: At this moment your email address cannot be edited. And the comment that if the email address is incorrect, she must request an account again. That way she and therefore we don't get any further.
