A good friend of mine (Thai nationality) has applied for a short stay visa. This to be able to celebrate Christmas in the Netherlands with her mother + boyfriend, and to meet friends she has had since previous visits to the Netherlands. She is 30 years old.

A Thai I have known for 25 years now accompanies me to the Netherlands. His 5 year visa obliges him to leave the Schengen area for 90 months after 3 days. Given my advanced age, assistance is becoming indispensable, but the IND rejects an extension. A marriage/cohabitation contract is possible, but then an integration exam must still be taken before he can stay here for the entire summer season.

While traveling in Thailand I met a girl, Thanaporn, 43 years old and living in Korat. Thanaporn is a simple, very sweet and dedicated girl who works 12 hours a day in a factory and often does 'overtime' on weekends. I have decided to bring her to Belgium, first with a Schengen visa of 3 months, and then to keep her with me in Belgium for good. If possible without a Belgian marriage, if there is no other option with a marriage.

Good news from Europe when it comes to the application procedure for a Schengen visa. The ambassadors of the EU countries have agreed on digitizing the visa application procedure. They want to make it possible to apply for a visa online and replace the current visa sticker system with a digital visa. The aim is to make applying for a visa more efficient and secure.

Dear Rob/Editor, This morning my wife got her passport back from VFS Global in Bangkok with her new Schengen visa in it. Unfortunately, again with a validity of 3 months, while in the past she has already received 1 year and 3 years. I had asked for 3 or 5 years in the letter. Are longer visas no longer being issued at all or does anyone have other experiences? Regards, Ronald ****** Dear Ronald, Unfortunately you mention …

My brother-in-law wishes to visit (2 weeks), he has a job, so I think his application has a chance. After the declaration of arrival (mandatory? I thought so) are there any other topics that should be taken into account? For example, is his residence address also effectively checked to see whether he is staying with us, are there any points for attention?

Completing the form to apply for a Schengen visa has now become completely digital and extremely complicated. Are there people among the readers of Thailand blog, for example friends or spouses of Thai visa applicants, who have experience with this and can help?

I am Dutch, my wife is Thai and we have been married for almost 6 years now under Thai law. Two years ago she obtained a Schengen visa for 90 days under the EU Directive 2004/38/ER (free movement of EU Citizens and their spouses); we then flew to Brussels together (and continued by train) and that all went well.

September 2022 we received a message that my Thai partner's Schengen visa application had been rejected. I then contacted a former immigration lawyer who is now a legal adviser. I came across his name several times on Thailandblog and he was the only one mentioned prominently on the Schengeninfo.nl site. I thought there was no need to seek further information. Afterwards I did this and found very favorable reviews on the internet, but also dissatisfied customers who, like us, were no longer in contact with him. The latter was blamed on health problems.

A question regarding Schengen visa, for a friend who also lives in Thailand. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of what exactly is done by the Dutch government against Thai girlfriends, even against spouses of Dutch people, who are caught exceeding the three-month validity period of their Schengen visa?

My girlfriend has only been in the Netherlands for 90 days, she went back home on November 3rd. On November 13, I had a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital. After many investigations, I am having open heart surgery tomorrow. So I will be out of circulation for quite some time. The disadvantage is that I live alone and am 77 years old.

For several days now there has been a technical malfunction on an important website of the Dutch government: NederlandWereldwijd.nl and the associated Consular Services website: https://consular.mfaservices.nl/ As a result, it is not possible for users to access a number of request travel documents. This concerns a Caribbean visa, Schengen visa and Dutch travel documents.
