I read that you are not allowed to smoke on the beach in Thailand. Is that the case everywhere or only at some beaches? I'm going to Pattaya, Koh Samui and maybe Koh Chang and still want to be able to roll and smoke a shaggie in my beach chair every now and then. Is there checking? Because I assume they don't have police on every beach?

Bangkok will have a number of no-smoking zones, including the area near the Victory Monument, Silom Road, Bangkok Bus Terminal in Chatuchak, Don Mueang Airport, Taling Chan Floating Market and Chatuchak Market 2 in Min Buri district.

All airports operated by Airports of Thailand (AOT) closed their smoking areas in the terminals yesterday. Smoking is no longer allowed anywhere in the passenger buildings.

I want to go on holiday to Thailand with a friend in April. But now I saw that you are not allowed to smoke everywhere. Like where is that not allowed? Because I don't want to get in trouble for smoking a nice cigarette, and I get arrested. I read somewhere that you also have to go to jail for a year? Now that is quite worrying.

It's time on the beach of Hua Hin as of today no more smoking on the beach. Fine 100.000 baht and/or 1 year in prison. However, there are also corners where smoking is allowed.

The smoking ban on Thailand's beaches turns out to be not too bad, at least for Pattaya. For the time being, the smoking ban only applies to Dongtan beach over a length of 1 kilometer, the anti-smoking commission has decided.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has adjusted the travel advice for Thailand yesterday: From November 2017, smoking on popular beaches in Thailand is punishable. In addition, the use and import of electronic cigarettes (and refills) is prohibited in Thailand.

From the start of the high season on November 1, smoking is prohibited on a number of Thai beaches. The Thai government will apply strict sanctions in line with already existing regulations, with violators of the smoking ban risking up to a year in prison or a fine of up to 100.000 baht.
