I read on Thailand blog again a question / answer to / from doctor Maarten Vasbinder regarding prostate problem. On this subject I regularly come across questions from compatriots on this blog and that is why it may be useful to report on a new test that I read in the Dutch press this month, partly because PSA does not always indicate cancer but sometimes also indicates on enlargement or inflammation.

It's time again to have PSA checked in my blood. In the absence of a prostate, the PSA value should be unmeasurable, or as is the norm in the Netherlands, less than 0,1. During one of our trips through the area, we saw that there is a specialized cancer hospital just outside Lampang.
Reader Submission: My experience with an enlarged prostate and treatment in Thailand
In response to a question to general practitioner Maarten about an enlarged prostate, I would like to share my experience. I too suffered from an enlarged prostate and 14 PSA. After a 1st visit to the state hospital in Sriracha, the urologist told me he wanted to make sure it wasn't cancer. Fortunately this was not the case.
My PSA values have been between 8 and sometimes above 10 for the past few years. I have to take pills, Cazosin, to urinate and have to go to the toilet 20 times a day. Now I get advice from the doctor to go to BKK, RAMA hospital, for examination.
I am a man of 71 years old. However, I don't feel that age at all, no idea what age. I use 1 tablet of Metformin 500 mg. per day. Also no medicines. Lately I've been having a little sperm production. And I'd like to step that up a bit.
