Delay in mail delivery due to flooding in Thailand
Parts of Thailand have been hit by tropical storms Podul and Kajiki. This leads to flooding in certain areas of the country. The delivery of mail and parcels may be delayed as a result.
Reader question: How long does it take for a letter to arrive from Thailand to the Netherlands?
My Thai friend has asked her sister to send something from the Isaan to the Netherlands (fits in an envelope). That was more than two weeks ago now. How long does it take for something like this to be over with the normal mail?
Is a birth anniversary celebrated in Thailand?
Every year I send four real Thai friends a nice postcard on their birthday, but ….. Never get a response, not even when I see them again. Do make a “kophunkha” when I send them a New Year's card. Would a card mean nothing as a wish, or should a gift be added in the end? Please comment on this item.
The postal service is still used for various reasons. It is difficult to predict how much time a shipment will take. From Thailand to the Netherlands I count on an average of 10 days. Conversely, it can take much longer. Difficult if you expect messages from the tax authorities or something about elections. The tax authorities can now use the digid.
Experience with sending and receiving mail to and from the Netherlands and Belgium?
I would like to know what your experience is with sending and receiving mail to and from the Netherlands and Belgium? I ask this because my experience is very bad with both sending and receiving.
Want to send mail from Thailand to the Netherlands?
I soon need to send something by post from Thailand to the Netherlands (nothing illegal). Of course I have looked on the internet for the graduated prices for shipping, but I can't make much sense of it. Who has experience of sending postal items up to and including 5 kg from Thailand to the Netherlands? Which service is best for me? Does everything arrive?
Parcel post in Thailand
In a recent article in the Algemeen Dagblad I read a number of interesting, but above all impressive figures about parcel post in the Netherlands. The Thai Post also delivers countless parcels a day. I don't have any figures on that, but there will undoubtedly be many millions on an annual basis.
What are the experiences with sending mail or packages to Thailand? I have been living in the South (Cha-am) for a short time now and was wondering, what is the best way to let those who stay at home send something by post or parcel service? What are the best companies in terms of service and delivery times and, of course, what are the costs?
Send registered mail to Thailand
Sometimes something has to be sent to Thailand, preferably by registered mail to make sure it arrives. The sender receives proof that it has been sent by registered mail and must keep it carefully. In addition, to be on the safe side, an email with a photo of the proof of postage will be sent to the addressee. So far so good.
Reader question: Postcards from Thailand not arriving?
For the second year in a row, the cards sent from Thailand have not arrived. Last year from Phuket, this year from Pattaya. Is this the new trend?
Reader question: No mail in Pattaya in December?
Does anyone also have the experience that every year in December virtually no mail is delivered in Pattaya? Christmas cards posted in Pattaya and the Netherlands at the end of November had not arrived on 2-1-2018.
Reader's submission: Registered letter parcel from Thailand delivered as a regular letter
A few days ago, a package of letters from Thailand arrived in our mailbox. That parcel was sent by registered mail from Udon Thani. The shipment contained valuable documents for us. Thai ID card and debit card of my Thai wife, bank book of the Bangkok Bank, etc. We found it strange that we (the recipients) did not have to sign for receipt and that we did not have to identify ourselves, but that the shipment was sent as an ordinary letter dropped in our mailbox.
I have a question about sending medicines from the Netherlands to Thailand. A good acquaintance of mine is currently staying (longer than planned) in Thailand and needs new antidepressants within a reasonably short time (5 weeks). His GP in the Netherlands is willing to provide him with pills for three months, but the question now is how he will get those medicines in Thailand.
I would like to warn the readers of Thailandblog that outside the three official post offices in Pattaya there are several so-called 'post offices' such as in Big C south Pattaya and on the corner of south Pattaya road and Soi 24, opposite Soi Hollywood. These non-official post offices are much more expensive, they charge a high service fee.
My Dutch bank has already sent me a new bank card four times. But all four don't arrive. I live in Cha-Am and get my mail from the post office there.
Reader question: Moving in Thailand and being available for mail?
I move quite regularly in Thailand for various reasons. Currently my place of employment is in Pattaya. Every time I have to give my new address to various authorities with the result that I never receive mail at some addresses.
Reader question: Mail problems in Chiang Mai
Are there more people having problems with mail delivery? Here in Chiang Mai, we regularly miss mail.
