philosophy of life
Walk around the garden of Preah Prom Rath Pagoda in Siem Reap, dating from 1371, and marvel at a non-religious scene. In a carriage with two horses is none other than Prince Siddharta with his coachman Channa on the box. On a large stone is the explanatory story in Khmer and also in English. The young prince wants to see what goes on outside the palace walls. …
Joseph in Asia (part 4)
Say goodbye to the excellent Indochina hotel today and leave with a tuk-tuk towards the border. I already have a so-called e-visa that I have already arranged simply via the internet at home.
Chiang Mai and Chumphon: What brought us to Chiang Mai for the third time? (key lock)
First and foremost for Annelore, she was our tour guide when we traveled to Thailand for the first time. Many readers may know her from the human interest program 'Boundless Love' in which the VRT reporter Annick Ruyts traveled the world for four years in search of Flemish-mixed couples who had followed their loved one abroad. It was she who infected us with the love for this country. Full of enthusiasm she could talk about Thailand.
Joseph in Asia (part 3)
From Ekamai bus station in Bangkok I travel to Pattaya in about two and a half hours. Upon arrival I immediately buy a bus ticket to Aranyaprathet for four days. Other than that, we'll see how everything turns out.
A hellish train journey
Angela and Ronny (journey of 2010) have now arrived at the train station of Phitsanulok where they would travel to Chiang Mai by comfortable air-conditioned sprinter train. However, everything does not go as expected…
Joseph in Asia (part 2)
Today is my last full day in Bangkok and tomorrow I will travel to Pattaya where I will stay for a few days and then travel by bus to the border town of Aranyaprathet with Cambodia.
Joseph in Asia
Yesterday I arrived in Bangkok and I had a somewhat restless sleep when I woke up this morning. Just keep dozing for a while and take a heroic shower just after nine and be wide awake right away.
Good neighbours
When the temperature approaches freezing at the end of the year, my blood starts to itch and I want to leave the Netherlands and look for sunny places. I always like to return at the beginning of April to enjoy the spring sun and the budding spring.
Isaan tour (continued)
After breakfast, we left early for a visit to Ban Phu. In this historic park Phu Phrabat we saw jagged rock formations formed by an early route of the Mekong River. There are many temples in the area, some of which are still in use. One of these temples has a gigantic boulder as a roof.
Isaan tour
Our sixth Thailand trip started on Friday, January 30 to Saturday, February 19, 2010. This time we flew with KLM instead of China Airlines because of more convenient flight hours. Since we were a bit tired of the usual attractions, we chose to explore unknown territory, namely the Isaan area.
New travel adventures from HE and SHE (continued)
SHE is under high tension again because the self-booked transfer ride was delayed. After an hour delay and after a call to the rental company (they still had to take customers to the airport), the taxi that would take them to Khao Lak finally showed up.
New travel adventures from HE and SHE
THEY have been through all kinds of things again and are not afraid to tell the reader everything honestly; they even numbered their blunders. Curious about their latest travel adventures? Death trail in Kanchanaburi
Although I generally try to avoid typical tourist places during my travels through Thailand, the ten-day stay of old friends from the past has led me to make the trip to Kanchanaburi again: The River Kwai.
Different than usual, second week: KOH CHANG (part 2)
Instead of half past seven, it became after eight before the driver of the van found our address. SHE was already in all states. So did the driver when he saw her suitcase.
