The capital of Cambodia, located in the southeast of the country, cannot be compared to any other city. Actually quite normal because countries can hardly be compared with each other. If you read the stories on the internet about Phnom Penh, you will come to the conclusion that many of them are outdated, have been placed from a commercial point of view and are often presented too rosy.

On October 20, 2020 I wanted to travel to Cambodia from Brussels with Qatar Airways, but was not allowed to continue in Seoul due to an unsigned covid certificate and had to return to Brussels. No compensation.

Another view of Phnom Penh

Of course you must have visited the S21 prison and the Killing Fields in the capital of Cambodia to get an impression of the atrocities committed by the Khmer Rouge. Wandering along the boulevard and soaking up the mighty Mekong River is also a must and of course there are temples. On the internet you will find a number of trips under 'What to do in Phnom Penh', but simply discovering something yourself is often a lot more fun than all those pre-made offers, not to mention often very cheap.

In the Netherlands, Wakker Dier has made great efforts to keep the so-called floppy chickens out of supermarkets. This well-bred chicken breed 'lives' with 20 chickens per square metre, sees no daylight and reaches 6 kilograms of slaughter weight within 2 weeks.

Flying to Bangkok alone, I'm dreading it

I am going to Phnom Penh at the beginning of 2019 but have to go via Bangkok because I will be staying there for the last few days. So I fly back to the Netherlands via Bangkok. I travel alone the way there and I have not flown in over 20 years and have never had to do this alone. In addition, my English is not very good. So I look up to this. Who can tell me how this works?
