The Thai government prohibits the advertising of alcoholic beverages. This even goes so far that even on social media, images of bottles of alcohol are not allowed, under penalty of a fine and/or imprisonment. So be careful if you let yourself be photographed on the beach (or anywhere else) with a golden yellow rascal in your hand. The holiday could take an unexpected turn.

Tourism in Thailand has long been the cork on which the economy floats. The Dutch contribute to this because Thailand is a popular holiday destination for us. It is striking that the Netherlands itself is increasingly benefiting from foreign tourists visiting our country. In 2016, the tourism sector in the Netherlands generated an added value of 24,8 billion euros. In 2010, this was more than 17,3 percent lower at 43 billion euros. I would like to tell my story along these lines. We are probably not the only victims, but maybe we can warn others with this. We have been living in Thailand with our family for 6 years now and like many, we have had to deal with the corruption of the country left or right, but this time I found it quite rude.
