There are quite a few requirements that must be met in order to travel to Thailand. One is USD$100.000 health insurance with covid coverage. I wonder, does this require insurance with a Thai insurer or may that also be a policy from an insurer from the country of residence or from elsewhere?
An extremely unpleasant experience with Cigna health insurance (part 2 – conclusion)
What to do now, switching to another insurance was out of the question given my status as a cancer patient and my age (73), what remained was to remain uninsured.
You probably know them, the glossy brochures full of beautiful marketing slogans from the powerful insurance companies. Complete coverage for almost all calamities at low premiums, the payment in the event of damage is a piece of cake, etc... In practice, it is often a lot more difficult than the brochures promise, this is such a practical story.
Message from the Flemish Club Pattaya about health insurance
Lately I've been getting more and more messages from members who have questions about health insurance. One reason is that many members were affiliated with the AXA Assudis insurance, but that it is now unilaterally canceled by Assudis. Another reason is the COVID story: To be able to re-enter Thailand from Belgium, you must be able to submit a Certificate of Insurance to the Thai embassy. This health insurance must cover COVID and a minimum amount of 100…
I hear from an insurance expert that in addition to the mandatory health insurance for holders of the Non-OA retired visa, there is now also an insurance requirement for incoming travelers.
I have been insured with AXA assistance for several years through their Inter Partner Assistance. I have been deregistered from the Netherlands, therefore no longer entitled to Dutch health insurance, AXA was a reasonable addition to my own health insurance fund until today I received a letter from AXA like lightning in a clear sky.
There are quite a few older Belgians and Dutch people in Thailand without health insurance. Sometimes because they are no longer accepted anywhere or because they cannot afford the premium of a health insurance policy. What happens if such a person becomes seriously ill due to the corona virus?
Update: Non immigrant OA visa and health insurance
On December 17, an article about Non immigrant OA visa and health insurance was published, written by Matthieu Heijligenberg of AA Insurance Brokers. In the meantime, a 1 company has started stunting with a very cheap option.
TB Immigration Info Brief 014/20: Health Insurance OA Visa
I managed to get new health insurance that meets the Immigration requirements for an OA visa. I already had insurance, but with only Inpatient coverage. It was already requested at my last year extension, but the new requirement only took effect 3 days later.
I am considering settling permanently in Thailand soon, while I now live about 50% in Thailand and 50% in the Netherlands. If I settle in Thailand, I will no longer be covered by the Dutch health insurance law. I know that VGZ took over the Universeel complete insurance policies from Univé at the time. Is it still possible to register for this insurance if the Dutch Health Insurance Act is terminated?
Reader question: Health insurance for my Thai girlfriend?
I would like to take out health insurance for my Thai girlfriend so that she can go to the doctor more easily if necessary. I notice that she is hesitant to see a doctor because of possible costs.
Thailand visa question: Year extension and hospitalization insurance
I have to apply next year on 28/10 for my year extension in Khon Kaen which requires presentation of hospitalization insurance 400.000 Baht inpatient and 40.000 Baht outpatient. Can I already take out insurance on today's date, which will only be valid for another month and a half when I register on 28/10?
Non immigrant OA visa and health insurance
At AA Insurance (www.verzekereninthailand.nl) we have deliberately been a bit reticent in providing information on this subject. The law, which came into force on 1 November, has caused quite a bit of confusion. Not only with the foreigners living here, but also with the various immigration offices in Thailand.
TB Immigration Info Brief 118/19 – Immigration Bangkok (Chaeng Wattana) – Year Extension (Update)
My first application with renewal. Health insurance was not accepted. Had received the necessary new documents by email this morning, including insurance certificate for alien to apply for non immigrant, among others, both in Thai and English. This was issued to the relevant official but was not accepted because I was not in their system with a Health Insurance. They check this on the spot. The company in question had to register me in their system first.
Thailand visa question: Non-immigrant OA and insurance requirement, is Hua Hin test area?
Much has been written about this and insurance would only apply to a new application for the OA visa, not to an annual renewal. However, my Swiss friends (husband and wife not married) have been living in Thailand for 6 years on the basis of OA visas, both in possession of foreign health insurance, he has a French one for inpatient, they pacific cross for in and outpatient, were told yesterday at immigration that he had to have Thai insurance for outpatients.
Thailand visa question: Prove that you have health insurance?
This question may be relevant to several people. I have heard from some people that a new rule has recently been introduced for people living in Thailand. From now on they must demonstrate that they have health insurance that applies to Thailand.
I have a NON-IMM OA Multiple annual visa. I also have annual travel insurance with Allianz Golden protection. Is this enough? Do I have to apply for a re-entry every time I leave Thailand?
