Reader question: AOW and the consequences of a joint household
I am a single pensioner and want to have a Thai girlfriend come over for a 90-day holiday in the Netherlands. Thus also providing shelter at my house, when we are home from other trips in the Netherlands and or Europe.
I would really like to know if there are more single women living here in Hua Hin or anywhere else who have chosen Thailand, just like me. I've been living here for 10 years now, but I don't meet anyone here. Pretty special.
The number of people living alone has increased sharply since the Second World War. This growth will continue in the coming decades. Is more living alone a sign of increasing social isolation? And will that lead to more loneliness in the long run?
The bachelor in Thailand
I am not telling you anything new when I say that many foreign tourists come to Thailand because of the relatively easy contact options with Thai ladies. A large number of them also see this as an opportunity to enter into a (long-term) relationship, get married and possibly take the lady to Europe.
