My girlfriend has been flying back and forth twice a year for 2007 days in the Netherlands since 90. The exam has been attempted, but is not included. So just keep flying. Now I discovered that, just like for myself, it is better to book a return AMS-BKK-AMS for her than always a return BKK-AMS-BKK, which currently saves more than 300 euros (736 to 1073). In the many previous applications for a (shorter) Schengen visa, we always needed the latter. I didn't notice the difference in price before. But the lady now has a 5-year visa and will only be confronted with an application again in four years.

My name is Martijn, 55 years old and now living and working (with the Thai government) in Thailand for 10 years. I have been happily married for almost as long to a Thai lady who is now 48 years old. We plan to go to the Netherlands for 1 week in August to visit family - my family has never seen my wife in real life, and my mother turns 80 this year, so a good time to visit the Netherlands again after so many years.

My partner - we are unmarried and not a registered partnership - has been in the Netherlands for a year with an MVV. We now want to bring her 22-year-old daughter to the Netherlands for a maximum period of 4 weeks. I see conflicting messages on the internet regarding visa requirements. Schengen visa required for shorter than 90 days, but also visa-free if shorter than 30 days (provable via the return ticket).

Reason, we must also have her recognized. An adoption agency in Belgium has been working on it for 1 year. Can we possibly get her here with a Schengen visa, our granddaughter is now 10 years old?

I recently started a topic with a number of questions regarding a Schengen visa (Switzerland). You have answered this in detail, for which I thank you very much. What is not clear to me is to what extent I should be a financial guarantor for my wife. Do I have to be able to prove that I am solvent – and if so, how do I have to prove this? I also learned that my wife must provide travel insurance. Is this correct?
