About Joop I wrote a story in October last year about the great loss he had suffered as a result of the floods. His successful tree and plant nursery was completely swallowed up by the water and Joop saw his life's work in Thailand completely destroyed.
Flooding: Bangkok need not worry
Bangkok residents should not worry too much because flooding has only a limited impact on Bangkok, says Seree Supratid, a lecturer at Rangsit University.
Thailand floods 2012
We are now a year further, but in 2012 Thailand again has to deal with floods. The weather forecast for the next few days is unfavorable. A significant amount of rain will fall through Sunday.

2,23 billion baht costs the 77 km long flood wall around Rojana Industrial Park; 728 million and 700 million baht are earmarked for the construction of flood walls around the Bang Pa-in and Navanakorn industrial estates, but the ordinary Thai who lost almost everything in last year's floods will receive a paltry 5.000 baht in compensation.

The Chao Praya and Noi Rivers in Ayutthaya are about to burst their banks due to rainfall in the North and Central Plains and as additional water is discharged from the Bhumibol and Sirikit reservoirs. This is done to ensure that they do not contain too much water at the beginning of the rainy season in May, as they did last year.
Thai exports shrunk in November
For the first time since last year, exports contracted in November as a result of the floods and slower growth in the global economy.
Nicole helps in flooded villages around Bangkok
The heavy rain in Thailand is over, but the water is still high. Nicole Salverda left her home in Bangkok at the end of October and returned a month ago. With an aid organization she now brings mosquito nets and food to the victims.

A Thai helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing on Thursday after Cambodian soldiers fired on it.
The Bell 212 was on its way to marines stationed 50 meters from the border with Cambodia in Trat province to deliver food. The commander of the Royal Thai Marine Corps is surprised by the incident, because relations between Thai and Cambodian troops are "very good".

The first six floors of Zen, Asia's first lifestyle mega department store, will open on Christmas Day.
The seventh floor will follow in February next year, when the Grand Opening will also be celebrated. Zen had been closed for the past 18 months after it was set on fire on May 19 when the army ended the occupation of Ratchaprasong intersection by the red shirts.

The air force defends its request for 10 billion baht for repairs. According to Air Force Chief Itthaporn Subhawong, the floods have caused massive damage to engineering facilities and high-tech communications equipment [at Don Mueang Airport].

Corruption has reached a critical level, say 90,4 percent of respondents in a poll by the Research Center of Bangkok University. 1.161 people in Bangkok were interviewed. 69 percent think people should stand up against corruption; 24,45 percent thinks corruption is not a problem and 6,6 percent thinks corruption is acceptable.
