Traffic fines in Pattaya

For numbers lovers, here is an overview of what to expect from traffic violations in Pattaya. The overview does not state whether this is nationwide or can even be “arranged” on the spot. A date could also not be discovered.

Whether this only applies to cars and other rates for mopeds is also unclear.

  • Driving through a red light: 1000 B (moped riders 500 B)
  • Reckless driving: 400 B
  • Making a u-turn illegally: 400 B (I paid 500 B )
  • Wrong parking: 400 B
  • Illegal vehicle: 1000 B (unregistered?)
  • Parking in parking zone: 400 B (my brother had to pay 800 B!)
  • No insurance: 600 B
  • Driving against the direction: 400 B
  • No helmet on the moped: 400 B
  • No driver's license: 400 B
  • No car tax: 400 B
  • A lot of noise (yes!!!): 1000 B

If you come to an area (Pattaya Thai) where there are signs with “odd date” then you are NOT allowed to park on that side on the odd dates. Across the street with “even date” so on even days (2, 4, 6, etc.) DO NOT park there. Or pay on the spot or your moped will be removed.

Again as I already wrote, “other” rates will be used according to the country's wisdom. Otherwise I would roll off my chair in surprise if this wasn't the case! This is for learning and entertainment!

Handy if this would also hang at the aliens police on Soi 9 Pattaya. But maybe I missed something!

Driving without a license also got me on my pants (although I really showed RBW + International RBW), 400B. According to the officer, he had to go to the police station to pay, when I asked if he couldn't arrange that, the 400B went in his own pocket and I also got change 🙂

What is special is that if you pay a fine for driving without a license you can continue driving for the rest of the day, after all you have already paid….

Very strange, that you can pay, if you have everything with you? Driving through a red light in Sa Kaeo costs 150 baht (illegal) and officially 400 baht with proof of payment.

Parking where -supposedly- red stripes are painted-400Baht. So not paid and informed the big headpiece at the police station that he can have the red stripes painted FIRST. That was it. The receipt was returned to him with thanks and invited for a beer, . . . if we meet again.

Driving without an inter-driving license 400Baht. You will receive a piece of paper which is then valid for 1 month. . throughout Thailand. If you only stay for a month, it is cheaper than with the ANWB

    This applies to Pattatya.
    Not rural
The Highway Police has different standards/fines.

    @BA,

A fine must be paid within 7 days; within this time window, the police may not fine for the same offence. (have a copy of the fine with you if you are arrested again)

    PS
An agent is not allowed to take the keys to your vehicle, but they are allowed to take your driver's license.
You can pay fines in Na-Jomtien, Soi 9 Pattaya (clear sign with the prices) and Banglamung, depending on where the agent(s) is (are) stationed on the day of the fine.
Can tell that prices vary by agency.

Aliens Police; Soi 5 Jomtien, Pattaya

Better to stick to the rules.
This is how they try to boost security a bit.
This is another scandalous example of wrong reasoning by the farang.
And then comes the explanation that the Thai are dumb, drinking too much doesn't work….
I hate statements where farang behave like this.
You bring NOTHING (positive) to this beautiful country.

      Very very bad

Can be doubled from me but not only look at the helmet but also fine if there is no driver's license or the vehicle is insured.all add up.no money then confiscation. You can see that it helps money is very important in Thailand. Driving through a red light car 4000 bt motors 1500 bt.

The agent is therefore allowed to take away your keys and certainly does so if you do not have a driver's license.
wrong parking; are you "lucky" on the chain, but removed also occurs and then find out where they have parked it here in Pattaya at least 4 places where the vehicle can be.

Cityhall also has a basement where your motorcycle can still be!
Moterbike above 150 cc 1000 baht take away costs! is heavier 🙁 so also your PCX of 150 cc.
Sometimes you can pay fines at 7-11 where a cop is standing?? this is then temporary and TIT

Tip ; don't speak English but just Dutch and pretend you understand dr nx keep chatting and shrug your shoulders pick up your phone and point to the number pretend you want him to call a friend, maybe lucky and ; he sends you away 🙂 there will be another victim who understands him 😉

It is better to stick to the rules, but sometimes people come up with something for the bahtjes

Oh yes, most people ride a moped, the fine for this in the event of a violation is usually around 400 bth. So at the local service knocker cash up to 200 bth 5 euros so (who cares if it's not every day) and by driving corruption also has its advantages ...

    • bert says up

And again someone who saves 200 bth on education, you must say! Half of a fine in Thailand goes to education and the rest is distributed by the police!! So if you don't take a receipt, think about it!! that you don't win anything, the police is still paid, from you 200 bth. Only by asking for a receipt, and paying the fine of 400 bth neatly, you add something for the poor students !! so they can also go to school! !For this reason alone I choose the fine without corruption practices.

      • piet says up

Of those 200 they can pay for private school nicely; but prevention is better than…… corruption 🙂

Will be on me! Dear people, but what is making a u-tum?

    • Dick van der Lugt says up

@ Witjes58 A U-turn is making a turn in the opposite direction. This can be done in different ways in Thailand. Sometimes the median strip is interrupted, usually there is an exit lane and rarely an entry lane. The maneuver is not entirely without risk. Safer forms are a viaduct or an underpass under a viaduct. Type U-turn Thailand on Google and you will see some pictures of such an overpass. I can't find the median variant.
