I have cancer and want to emigrate to Thailand, can I take out health insurance there?
I am happily married to a Thai woman and live in Maarssen. We had the plan to emigrate to Thailand after our retirement. Last year I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lymphoma. I have had a series of chemos and am now slowly getting better.
Is there social health insurance for foreigners in Thailand?
I am interested in staying in Thailand for a longer period of time per year, in addition I also live partly in Spain. In the Netherlands I have health insurance with additional worldwide coverage and a continuous travel insurance. I still want to take out extra insurance in Thailand. Is there any kind of social insurance in Thailand?
By not insuring illness in Thailand, what should I do?
I am looking for health insurance in Thailand, but I have had a brain tumor and therefore no insurer will insure me.
What can I do now?

Reader Submission: Health Insurance in Thailand
Fortunately, Charly's life is full of pleasant surprises (unfortunately sometimes also less pleasant ones). Until a few years ago, he would never have dared to predict that he would spend the rest of his life in Thailand. However, he has now been living in Thailand for a while and in recent years close to Udonthani.
Health insurance, WAO and emigrating to Thailand?
I want to emigrate to Thailand next year and deregister from the Netherlands completely. An ONVZ employee referred me to OOM insurance, where they have a living abroad insurance policy. I have sent an e-mail to them to find out whether they will accept me. I have Crohn's disease, and have a colostomy, so I do need my stoma equipment in Thailand every month, and my tablets.
Imagine you work as an EU national (Belgian or Dutch nationality to make it easy) in Thailand for a multinational or for a Thai company as an employee with an open-ended contract. You are fully in order with your papers, you have a valid visa and you have a work permit. If you work as an expat for a company in Thailand, is part of your monthly salary deducted by the Thai government (= tax) for your public health insurance? Will you then have access to medical assistance at government hospitals as an expat?
Piggyback on your Thai wife's health insurance?
Reader question: You can regularly read here about the (unaffordable) health insurance costs that we, as Dutch and Belgians, face in Thailand. Now I recently heard that men (or women) whose Thai partner has a government position, such as a school teacher or nurse, are fully insured as standard. Of course only in government hospitals and no private clinics.
On this blog we have often discussed the usefulness (necessity) of good health insurance. Without it, you can just so unexpectedly be faced with very unpleasant financial problems. Blog reader Hans van Mourik can relate to that. Read his story.
Where can you go in Thailand (Phuket) for general (ordinary) health insurance for Thai? I ask this because my girlfriend has not arranged anything. Recently had a violent accident together on the scooter, both taken in two separate ambulances to a general hospital in Phuket. Nothing broken, but stitches, abrasions, bruised ribs, etc.
Reader question: Eliminate the consequences of the UNIVé Universal Policy for expats?
Inquiries with UNIVé confirmed that the so-called Universal Policy of UNIVé will be placed with VGZ as of 1 January 2018. We would like to know what the consequences are for you with regard to the continuity of your health insurance and the premiums to be paid?
Univé is screwing Dutch people abroad out the door. And cancels foreign health insurance policies
The rumor that Univé would discontinue the Universal Complete Policy had been buzzing around in Thailand for some time. Waiting for official confirmation. It had been clear for months that the handling of expense claims was not going smoothly. The bullet is now through the church. Univé only focuses on the Netherlands and no longer insures compatriots abroad.
I would like to know more about AXA Assistance, a health insurance for expats in Thailand, based in Brussels. Assudis is the company that manages the contracts.
There have already been questions about health insurance, only for expats. Now my question is, what health insurance do you recommend for my Thai wife and my daughter. Both Thai nationality. We live in Na yung, near Udon Thani.
Reader question: Can I deduct my medical expenses from my taxes?
I have to pay taxes in the Netherlands, that's not the problem (a pity). Still have health insurance in the Netherlands with Unive. The Universal complete policy with Thailand as the country of residence, issued from 2009.
I received a message from Zilveren Kruis yesterday that my international health insurance from Expatriate Health Insurance XHI will cease to exist on 1 January 2017.
I am looking for insurance and have read a lot about this on Thailandblog. My insurance premium went up dramatically last year after I turned 65.
