Like many of us, I am staying here in Thailand on a Non Immigrant “O” (retired) visa. To meet one of the requirements of extending the period of stay with this visa (and because my monthly income is not sufficient for this) is that I have a Thai bank account with THB 800.000.

I have now reached the age where I have to arrange my affairs when I die. In Thailand I “only” have a bank account at the Krungsri Bank with only the necessary amount (THB 800.000) to obtain the Non Immigrant O visa. The account must therefore only be in my name and I cannot also put it in my partner's name. If I die, I want to leave this amount to my Thai partner, with whom I only married for Buddha (so not for the law).

I married my Thai wife, who is still naturalizing, in community of property. She is just under 11 years younger than me, so statistically there is a good chance that I will die before she does.

Is there someone who can tell me exactly what I should do in sequence when my end of life is approaching (I am not sick, but I am old). The information I received from the embassy is “global”, and certainly not detailed. I assume that everything is in it, but who takes the action, how it should be done, to which hospital, etc., that remains in the air.

Regarding my will. I am collecting plenty of information for the preparation of a will or Last Will. Not easy to find a good lawyer who possesses all qualifications, namely a certified translator and Notary Public! Some offices try to win over “customers” with their cheap price for drawing up a Last Will, for example 7.000 THB, but usually the markup is at least very questionable.

Last year my brother passed away in the Netherlands. In 2014, he had a will made at a law firm in Jomtien. I now have a death certificate legalized in the Netherlands, through court-sworn translator-embassy Thailand. Does anyone know about the roadmap to convert his real estate and movable property to another name? It would also be nice if someone knows the approximate cost per action?

I have had a simple will drawn up in the Netherlands, simply put: x% assets/cash to A, x% assets/cash to B, etc. What if I die in Thailand, and have ฿ahtjes in the bank here , and possibly other possessions, such as a condo?
