It has always surprised me that a country with around 72 million inhabitants does not really excel on the world stage when it comes to sporting achievements. Especially if you compare it with Belgium and the Netherlands, relatively small countries that play an important role on the sporting world stage. Does this have to do with the fact that there is less pressure for prestige in Thailand than in the Western world? Or are there other causes?

With just over 32 percent of Thailand's population being obese, and many more overweight, taking part in any kind of sport or exercise has never been more important. But according to research, participation in physical activities by Thai children is very low. And the number of Thai people active in sports is falling.

Health Council: The Dutch should exercise more!

According to the new exercise guidelines, adults should exercise at least two and a half hours of moderate intensity exercise every week and children for at least one hour daily. Muscle and bone-strengthening activities are also recommended for both groups.
