I've written to you before, I'm 84 years old, don't smoke, don't drink although I do feel like a beer now and then, my movement is a lot less. This is mainly due to back problems. These complaints were resolved by a cortisone injection. But the question is whether this is still possible after a severe heart attack?
Could it be that by changing those medications I have become deaf in my left ear? Is my dizziness also due to the use of those medicines?
Question to general practitioner Maarten: Urinary problems and medicines
Some time ago I told you about my problem in urinating. I then took Tamsulosin 0,4 mg tablet which had an annoying side effect for me. Got dizzy and couldn't follow my way properly when exercising (fast walking). This problem disappeared after stopping this drug.
Ask general practitioner Maarten: Medication and heavy perspiration
We recently talked about my inner ear inflammation/infection, and how three weeks after taking medication I started to experience exceptionally heavy perspiration… head, shoulders, back and feet… which I still suffer from.
Thailand question: Why is Antacil not allowed by Thai customs?
The Antacil sent to me has been seized by customs. If it was a firearm or speed….
Question to general practitioner Maarten: Replacement of Prenolol
My blood pressure is on average 135/68 and heart rate 55. What can you recommend as a replacement for prenolol 100 mg? Measure my blood pressure about every 15 days. I have stents in my left upper and lower leg as well as in the chest. About 3 years ago and no problems since.
I live in Pattaya and can buy my medicines at most pharmacies. Don't need a prescription for that. However, what they can't help me with is CarbasalateCalcium Cardio 100 mg, they don't know that.
I am Belgian and am thinking of moving to Thailand in the future. I currently take 3 medications daily, namely: asaflow 80 mg, glucophage 850 mg and hydrea 500 mg. Are these available in Thailand and if not what can I replace them with?
I was in the city for the week and had to walk about 100 meters, I was not feeling well and my heart rate went to 150 (normally 60) I sat down in my car and after a few minutes it was back to normal. Could drugs be the cause?

To control my high blood pressure and cardiac arrhythmias, I have been taking medication for several years with great satisfaction. My problem now is that I can't find it in Hua Hin. Is there any alternative with the same active ingredients available in Thailand?
Reader question: Is the rheumatic medicine Tocilizumab (Roche-Actemra) available in Thailand?
Does anyone know if the rheumatic medicine Tocilizumab (Roche-Actemra) is available in Thailand? This is a "biological" that can be used by infusion or self-prick administration. It would be best if it can be administered in Thailand during your stay there and it does not have to be taken on the plane (of course you have to find out how much it costs and whether the insurance company agrees so that the bill can be submitted in the Netherlands ).
Due to the recent questions on Thailand blog about medication for benign prostate enlargement, I still have a further question.
Thank you Dr. Maarten for your quick response to my prostate problem. It is not entirely clear to me and I have the following question. You say that you use Tamsulosin 0,4 in combination with Dutasteride for the urinary problem. I use Finasteride tab 5 mg for my prostate and I read that Tamsulosin is also used for an oversized prostate.
For a few years I bought Wafarin tablets from a pharmacy in Khorat to my complete satisfaction. Unfortunately, they let us know with the new order that they no longer deliver this. Only through the hospital. I can monitor myself quite well, I don't need regular hospital visits for that.
Soon I will get my vaccinations, soon after that I want to travel to Thailand for 8 months. My question is about medicines.
Because I cannot take enough medicines with me for 8 months, the following medicines are available in Thailand.
Question to general practitioner Maarten: Are medicines available in Thailand after heart surgery?
I am 65 and take the following medication daily in Belgium: asaflow 80 mg, zocor 40 mg, loortan 100 mg, bisoprolol 5 mg, amlodipin besilate 5 mg. Now we are in Thailand for a longer period (years hopefully) and so want to know if these or alternatives are available here. We are staying in Cha Am. I have been taking this medication for 10 years or more following heart surgery (stent insertion) more than 10 years ago.
