Dear Martin,

Soon I will get my vaccinations, soon after that I want to travel to Thailand for 8 months. My question is about medicines.
Because I cannot take enough medicines with me for 8 months, the following medicines are available in Thailand:

  • cholesterol: Atorvastatin 20 mg
  • bladder: Nitrofurantoin 50 mg
  • blood thinner: Pradaxa 110 mg
  • heart: Atenolol 50 mg
  • stomach: Omeprazole 40 mg

Also the question where in Pattaya can I get these medicines?

I have asked for a medicine in Bangkok Hospital before, but that was not possible without the intervention of a doctor.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

P.

Dear P,
  • Atorvastatin is also called Atorvastatin in Thailand.
  • Nitrofurantoin = Nitrofurantoin
  • Atenolol = Atenolol
  • Omeprazole = Omeprazole
  • Pradaxa = Dabigratan.
I don't know where to buy all this in Pattaya. Pharmacies will have the most. Pradaxa is probably available in a hospital. You may need to see a doctor first.
In any case, take as much as possible with you so that you have time to sort it out in Pattaya. Keep the packs to show them to the pharmacy and check them carefully to make sure they don't contain anything else.
We will also ask the readers.
Yours sincerely,
Dr. Maarten

Just walk into a state hospital.
If you show what medicines you are taking, he will probably not prescribe extensive tests, at most give advice.

The medicines in a state hospital are considerably cheaper than at Bangkok Hospital.

    Hello Mr P,

Based on my own experience, I would advise you to consult a doctor in a hospital in Pattaya for the first time. Doesn't necessarily have to be Bangkok Pattaya Hospital, they are indeed very expensive.
Consultations with Thai specialists (urologist/cardiologist, etc.) are serious and knowledgeable. Price between 250 and 300 baht per consultation. You need a doctor anyway for the blood thinner, which are only available on prescription from a hospital pharmacy.
Pattaya International is well regarded. Also think about your insurance papers

Fascino-Parmacy differ from the many other pharmacies and herbalists in the area due to the wide availability of sanitary items and medicines, some of which are difficult to find on the market: some varieties have a price significantly lower than hospital pharmacies
The shop is located opposite Tesco Lotus Pattaya Central Supermarket at City Hall.
