Lamphun, on the Ping River, is the capital of Lamphun Province in Northern Thailand. This historic place was once the capital of the Haripunchai kingdom. Lamphun was founded in 660 by Queen Chamthewi and remained the capital until 1281, when the empire came under the rule of King Mangrai, a ruler of the Lanna dynasty.

Trip by car from Udon Thani to Lamphun?

At the end of this month my Thai wife and I are going to visit a friend in Lamphun (close to Chiang Mai). We go by car and leave from Udon Thani, we want to take 3 to 4 days. Can you possibly give some tips about places of interest on this route (a detour is possible).
