Question to GP Maarten: Would you like to have inguinal hernia surgery in the Netherlands or Thailand?
I recently had an inguinal hernia of 1 centimeter and will soon receive an invitation from a Dutch hospital to undergo surgery. My question is whether it is better to have this done in Thailand or in the Netherlands?
I have an inguinal hernia. So far not too much pain and can push the bump back again. What now, in case of surgery? According to my doctor, this can only be done under full anesthesia in my hospital. If it's up to me only local anesthesia.
Reader question: Inguinal hernia surgery in Thailand
Soon I will leave for Thailand for a month. In the Netherlands I have been on a waiting list for an operation on an inguinal hernia for more than six months. I know that when I report to a hospital in Thailand, I can probably be helped that same day. My health insurance fund has now indicated that the costs of an operation in Thailand will be reimbursed up to an amount that is common in the Netherlands.
I have a bored inguinal hernia that I will probably need surgery on. Are there any readers who have performed this in Thailand? And if so, in which hospital? Negative and positive answers are welcome, as well as information about the amount of the bill paid.
Reader question: I walk around with an inguinal hernia
I've been walking around with an inguinal hernia for some time now. Now few days ago I did a health check up at Maha Sarakham International Hospital. So I presented my problem to one of the doctors and asked for advice. A surgeon later advised me to surgically close the fracture. If I get this fixed here, this will be the first time I end up in a hospital here.
For a year and a half I have had a bubble the size of a small egg on the right side just above my penis. When I lie in bed the bubble disappears but when I sit or stand it comes out again. I suspect it is a small hernia.
