I am planning to live in Thailand in a few months. I have a whole series of questions about this. Can I come to you with all my questions or is there an agency in Belgium that can help me?
Dear readers, we would like to ask you once again to use the contact form for reader questions, questions to Ronny, general practitioner Maarten or the editors.
Questions about Thailand? Send them to Thailandblog!
Do you also walk around with questions about Thailand? Then send them to the editors of Thailandblog. If your question is interesting enough, we will place it in our popular section: reader questions.
Some time ago, the editors announced that chatting, under certain conditions, is allowed on Thailandblog. Now that we have gained some experience with this and due to advancing insight, we have decided to make an exception for reader questions. In other words, it is no longer allowed to chat with reader questions.
What about closing times in Thai nightlife?
In Phuket, quite a heated discussion has arisen about the closing times of bars, clubs and discos in the Patong entertainment center. About 14 days ago, a major action was launched by the police, whereby all entertainment venues had to close strictly at 1 am. Suddenly hundreds of people were lost on the street instead of enjoying themselves somewhere with "fat" music or otherwise.
Question to GP Maarten: Since two days a kind of hiccups
Since 2 days I have a kind of hiccups that look like normal hiccups but are not, I think it has to do with the esophagus or the stomach, sometimes I don't have it but after a while it comes back again.
Question to general practitioner Maarten: Would you like to look at my medication use?
Can you look at my medication. I am uninsured here in Thailand and have had a regular doctor in a small hospital in Chiang Mai for years which keeps my costs low. Buy the medicines cheaper at Pharmacy Choice.
Ask general practitioner Maarten: Problems with loose stools
In the morning I go to the toilet and then my stools are normal. But an hour later I almost always have to go again and then the stools are thin. I don't have to go to the bathroom for the rest of the day.
My blood pressure was measured at the clinic. Result 171/98 so not really low. The doctor told me that medicines are only given above 180/110. I am 76 and live in Khon Kaen province.
For a year and a half I have had a bubble the size of a small egg on the right side just above my penis. When I lie in bed the bubble disappears but when I sit or stand it comes out again. I suspect it is a small hernia.
Dear Maarten, we have a one and a half year old daughter. She drinks powdered milk, mother is not breastfed. When we go to buy powdered milk, I can no longer see the wood for the trees.
Question to general practitioner Maarten: How do I recognize counterfeit medicines in Thailand?
In this blog I read a warning from a reader for counterfeit medicines and I have a question about this for GP Maarten.
I take three medicines a day, two for high blood pressure and for high cholesterol. Now comes my question can I get these medicines somewhere here in Thailand in the village where I live?
General practitioner Maarten about his section on Thailand blog: “I like to help people”
It's been three months since we started with the medical section. In this period I have answered about 80 questions and I must say with great pleasure.
