European tourists avoid Pattaya for expensive Thai Baht
Tourism from Europe to Pattaya has suffered greatly due to the expensive baht. The Entertainment & Tourism Association of Pattaya City says European travelers have barely traveled to Pattaya in recent months.
Thailand is getting expensive
You sometimes hear people complain about the fact that Thailand has become so expensive. Whether this is true I do not know, it seems to me that it strongly depends on your lifestyle. However, I would like to add a small piece of evidence for the rise in prices.
I am now in Belgium with my wife. I heard through her that the Thai government will soon increase the taxes on alcoholic beverages in such a way that, for example, a bottle of Leo (66cl) in the store would go from 55 to 108 baht in one fell swoop. I had a hard time believing this. But afterwards I saw an article and it turns out that this is indeed the case.
Reader question: Has much changed in Thailand in a short time?
We have been coming to Thailand for many years, but a lot has changed in a year and much more expensive. Taxis are still a crime. Sometimes let 7 taxis pass by, no meter on.
Reader question: Is southern Thailand twice as expensive?
At the moment I am renting an apartment in Chiang Mai with my partner. The idea is to continue to the south, Krabi eo, and rent an apartment here for three months. Now we see and hear varying stories about the south. It seems to be twice as expensive in living, transport and renting a house. Does anybody have experience with this?
