In the coming months, the Dutch embassy will offer the opportunity to apply for a Dutch passport or identity card, have your life certificate signed and/or receive a DigiD activation code at six different locations in Thailand, Cambodia and Laos. The planned dates and places are listed in the overview below.
The Dutch Embassy is organizing a consular service and a Meet & Greet reception with Ambassador HE Remco van Wijngaarden from May 14 to 16, 2024 in Pattaya. You can meet him on May 15 and ask questions during the Meet & Greet. Take part in this inspiring meeting and register in time for the limited places!
In the coming months, the Dutch embassy will offer the opportunity to apply for a Dutch passport or identity card, have your life certificate signed and/or receive a DigiD activation code at four different locations in Thailand.
I am an 87-year-old man and I want to apply for a new DigiD with app, but I am having a lot of trouble doing so. Would one of the many readers help me with that at home? For a fee, of course. I live in Nong Pla Lai (Chonburi).

On Monday 5 June, a consular employee of the Dutch embassy will be in Chiang Mai. On this occasion you can apply for a Dutch passport or identity card, have your life certificate signed and request a DigiD code.
Thailand question: Problem activating new DigiD app MyGovernment
My smartphone broke and I had to buy a new one. I have downloaded the DigiD app and at the last step I am asked to enter the SMS code. Since I had activated the old app on my Dutch telephone number, the code will be sent to this number.
I have had DigiD for years. I log in with my username and password. Now all changes have been introduced. I tried to activate my current DigiD with the Digid app without result.
Who in Pattaya can help me apply for DigiD?
Is someone willing to help me apply for a new DigiD? I've been working on it for a while but I can't get it done, not even through their helpdesk. I live in Pong/Pattaya.
Who has experience with a new DigiD application?
Requested DigiD again via the SVB, but where is it going wrong? As you know, as of January 1, 2023 we have to log in with a DigiD App instead of a username and password. Now you can apply directly to DigiD, then you have to pick up your activation code at the NL embassy in BKK or you can request it via SVB, then your activation code will be sent to your home address.
Two-step verification and different mobile number?
Does anyone have a solution for the two-step verification where you get an email and a text message to your mobile?
Anyone having problems with DigiD and SMS?
In my circle of acquaintances there are already three Dutch people who have difficulty logging in to DigiD. Immediately I get the message that the time limit of 15 minutes has been exceeded. That is of course far from the truth.
Thailand question: How do I get a BSN number and DigiD?
I live in Thailand. Worked here. Am 65 years old. Do not have a Citizen Service Number or Digid. Would like to apply for this from Thailand. How do I do that? Have my pension November 2022.
DigiD is organizing an online live question-and-answer session together with Stichting GOED on September 2, 2021 at 3pm (CET). Anyone living abroad can participate.
Stichting Goed: DigiD what do you do with it?
DigiD or Logius has started adapting the DigiD App, so that ID documents (passport, driver's license) issued abroad are suitable for the ID check. After this, the DigiD App can be used by all Dutch people abroad. You can then continue to log in with a DigiD without a telephone number, without traveling, by performing an ID check.
Applying for a DigiD abroad
The question has come up several times about not having the DigiD and how it can be reactivated. Below is the course of action that may lead to a result.
Reader submission: No problems logging in to SVB
On May 19, '19 (and also recently, I think) an article appeared on Thailandblog, that logging in to SVB was no longer possible with a DigiD code and password. This afternoon I looked up my annual statement 2019 at SVB on 'My SVB' and printed it out. Simply with DigiD code and password.
I used DIGID with full satisfaction. Unfortunately, the UWV is the only organization that has decided that it is now only possible with SMS control. Now UWV will also send the annual statements by post, but that may not arrive or arrive very late. And because I live in Thailand, confirmation with SMS does not work?
Reader question: DigiD for a non-Dutch citizen; how to get?
The DigiD is not for me but for a friend. German, living in Thailand, has lived and worked in NL for X years. Will receive state pension and a small company pension next year. He needs a DigiD for this. Does have a BSN.
On 10 September, parliamentary questions were asked by members Verhoeven and Sjoerdsma (both D66) about the message 'Dutch people abroad must go for an extra DigiD check'.
DigiD with mandatory SMS verification
The GOED NEWS FLASH is a periodic publication to keep you informed about what the GOED Foundation is doing and, among other things, to distribute important, useful information through short announcements.
From Wednesday, May 15, 2019, you can only log in to the UWV via the DigiD app with additional SMS verification. Logging in with only the DigiD username and password is no longer possible after 15 May. This has major consequences for thousands of the more than one million Dutch people abroad.
From now on, logging in to the UWV (Employee Insurance Agency) with only the DigiD username and password is no longer possible.
