I recently read that someone flew with Air Asia from Bangkok to Chiangmai for around 50 euros. That's cheap I think. I myself paid around 3500 baht. Take a ticket at the counter of the company in the airport.

Would like to know who has experience with Air Asia? In April we fly with EVA Air to Bangkok and then with Air Asia to Buri Ram. I was surprised that the tickets are so cheap. Now pay as much as I take the bus.
