I once went to the hospital in Sri Racha with a friend. She had a stomach ache and the doctor prescribed her some medicines. The bill was 2500 baht. Is this normal for a Thai who works and is probably also insured?

Reader question: Tax bill that I can't pay

I have been living in Thailand for 10 years now. Every year I filled in my income statement for tax purposes and used the Right of Choice. This allowed me to make healthcare costs deductible (medications, doctor's costs, transport costs). As a result, my aggregate income was a lot lower, so that I even received a small amount back. Unfortunately, due to my age, 80+, I cannot take out insurance. A month ago I received a tax assessment of 1.454 euros.

Hey Isaaner! I read your letter. I have to tell you that when I first came to Thailand almost thirty years ago, I had never heard of Isaan. And it took me almost another twenty-five years to get there. You should also know that I come from a completely different world than yours. Illegal dumping of medical waste in Pattaya

The Pattaya city government has ordered a company to remove 100 tons of medical waste from a depot at Khao Maikaew, which had been deposited there without permission.
Living in a big city like Bangkok is probably even less healthy than you already knew. A recent study shows that epigenetic changes (changes in the DNA) can already be observed in the blood if a person is exposed to exhaust fumes for two hours. These changes are associated with various diseases.
The construction frenzy in Bangkok goes far, everything has to make way for it, including trees, shrubs and plants. Fortunately, there are also residents in the capital who are concerned about the trees that are still there but may soon be cut down to build the 11 planned metro lines.

Does anyone know how I can apply to set up a Thai company (with which you can then enter such a project as a self-employed person), but also what the conditions are, the duration, the pitfalls (rights, obligations, risks), the costs, the tax status of Thailand and Belgium, etc… I would go for the simplest form of company, so just what is strictly necessary to become a franchisee.

I bought land in my wife's name about 10 years ago (there's no other way). I built a house on it. After many years together, my wife decides to move abroad and start a business together with her friend. I continued to live in our house in Thailand. After 7 months she decides that she wants her freedom back and asks for a divorce. Since the relationship has not become anything in the meantime, I agree.
Forest, farmers, property and deceit

Many farmers in Thailand, perhaps a quarter of all farmers, have problems with their land tenure and land use rights. Here I want to explain what those problems are and how they arose. A solution is far away. It seems as if the authorities do not really want a solution to be able to go their own way so arbitrarily.
