Joseph in Asia (part 19)
The journey home. Our flight KL874 departs today Sunday April 5 at 22.30:16.00 PM. The taxi wants to take us from Pattaya to Suvarnabhumi airport no later than XNUMX pm.
Joseph in Asia (part 18)
Today, Sunday 5 April, is our last day in Thailand and an 'unforgettable' trip is almost over. Yesterday, to prevent any problems, we visited the Pattaya Memorial Hospital to obtain a so-called 'Medical Certificate' to prove that we are not infected and healthy.
Joseph in Asia (part 17)
We were forced to say goodbye to the Avani resort and are now staying in the newly built Amber hotel just a few months ago. No view of the sea but adjacent to a side street of the famous Soi Buakhao. You don't recognize this otherwise busy street and just like on Beachroad you see few people here and it is dead quiet everywhere.
Joseph in Asia (part 16)
The rumors that the Avani hotel where we stay in Pattaya will close are getting stronger. The hotel has no fewer than 300 rooms, of which only a few are occupied.
Joseph in Asia (part 15)
Although we have nothing to complain about our hotel with a spacious en-suite room with a large balcony and a view of the sea, we still experience it a bit as if we are trapped in Thailand.
Need teaches prayer
Need teaches prayer is an old saying that made me think back to World War II and, at the moment, also to the terrible outbreak of the corona virus.
Joseph in Asia (part 14)
When we take a walk on Sunday morning after breakfast, Bangkok seems deserted. Department stores, restaurants, cafes, markets, hairdressers and so on, they are all closed by order of Bangkok's governor Aswin Kwanmuang.
The power and strength of the elephant
In the Thai Elephant Conservation Center in Lampang you can get a lot of information about elephants in the pavilion that opened not so long ago.
Joseph in Asia (part 13)
In the small but very tastefully decorated hotel La Castela in Hanoi we have our last breakfast this morning because in the afternoon we fly to Bangkok.
Joseph in Asia (part 12)
With VietJet Air we fly from Danang to Hanoi in a good hour. At the last check before boarding, we are given a face mask that we are obliged to wear on the plane.
Joseph in Asia (Part 11)
The taxi takes us in about XNUMX minutes from Da Nang to the picturesque Hoi An where we will stay for a few days. Usually we book for four nights and see if we stick to it for a few days or travel further.
In quarantine
25 Dutch people and 2 Belgians are quarantined in Hoi An, Vietnam. After they got off the plane, it turned out that one person on board had the Corona virus. The AD then blindly takes over a message from one of the people taken into quarantine - a 57-year-old woman - and if you have to believe that, tourists are just picked off the street and quarantined.
Joseph in Asia (part 10)
From Nha Trang we fly by Vietjet Air in barely an hour to the coastal town of Da Nang, 550 kilometers north. The place has quite a few hotels and is home to 1.2 million inhabitants. The Han River crosses the city and in the evening you have a beautiful view over the illuminated bridges. We have taken up residence in the Royal Lotus hotel, which is close to the beach.
Joseph in Asia (part 9)
From Ho Chi Minh City, the journey with Vietnam Airlines continues to Nha Trang, located by the sea. The place itself has no airport, so we land a good hour later in nearby Cam Rahn. Buses are waiting at the exit that will transport you to Nha Trang within 60.000 minutes for only 2 dong or a fraction more than XNUMX euros pp.
Joseph in Asia (part 8)
From Bangkok we fly with VietJet Air in about 5 minutes to Ho Chi Minh City, still better known to us as Saigon. It is a cheap flight, but you can only take 16 kilos of luggage in your suitcase per person. Not paying attention because for the 4½ kilos that we have too much together, 2.130 baht must be paid.
Joseph in Asia (part 7)
The week in Chiangmai flew by as it were and I made a lot of nice trips in the area with my scooter. To the elephants in Mae Rim and then on to Ban Nong Hoi Mai where you suddenly end up in a completely different world and really have arrived among the local population.
Jaisamarn Full Gospel Church
It's Sunday, Joseph got up late and has breakfast in Bangkok soi 8 around half past one. Then take a morning walk and turn into the next soi 6 unknown to me. Soon I am at a building with a large cross and the name Jaisamarn Full Gospel Church.
